McAfee is very inefficient and tends to use more system resources than other anti-virus software, so I tend to agree with the other posters here and I would recommend staying away from McAfee.
Like most computer manufacturers nowadays, you probably have a trial version of McAfee that lasts for only 30 or 60 days, then you'll to purchase it. I would uninstall it, if the factory warranty doesn't mention anything specific about the brand of the AV software that was included with the computer, I would uninstall it and replace it with Norton's Internet Security. They've improved their AV products over the last couple of years. I had Kaspersky on one of my desktop computers 3 or 4 years ago and I wasn't very impressed with it, so I would also stay away from Kaspersky.
I have no idea since I have not personally used it in decades. Why not try it since its free and draw your own conclusion. I used Norton for months when I got new computer this summer and it was fine . If I had listen to internet i'd never have tried it again since the older versions. I had a subscription to another already; removed and changed when time was near up.
I went for a search of ratings for anti virus software, both free and paid, and could find nowhere that McAfee even made the top ten list in the last couple of years.
