The problem is how do you clean them up when they usually aren't even properly documented? LOL

Gods...this. So much this.

This wire runs into.....500 other identical wires....and comes out here 3 stories away and plugs into.....one of 1,000 different plugs. All the same color. Nothing labeled.

No documentation, Everything is mission critical and cant be taken down.....ever...

It's incredibly messy and poor cable management but it's functional. Who knows what kind of requirements they had to fit. I don't think people would willingly leave something like this.

That actually doesn't look extremely bad. Our datacenter is neater than that, but none of the cables are labeled. I've seen much worse though.
