Can someone please tell me how to post a YouTube video on these forums? I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to do this and simply don't know how. Thanks much!

Just copy the address from the address bar at the top of your browser and paste it in. That's all.

You mean embedded video? I'm not sure I've seen anyone do that on this board. But also, a normal hyperlink works just fine. I find that embedded video posts detract from meaningful discussion (on other forums, at least).

Hi Nancy,

It is actually quite simple and involves two steps; copying the link and then pasting it.

First step is to copy the link of the YouTube video
To do this, you could either copy the link from the address bar of your browser or by right-clicking on the video you want to link and select either of the two choices you have:
- Copy Video URL (copies the link so the video starts from the very beginning)
- Copy Video URL at current time (copies the video so that it starts the video from that point of the video

In my example, if I chose the second option and linked it, the video would start playing from the 1:35 marker instead of playing from the very beginning. (see first screenshot for details)

Second step is pasting the link to City-Data
You could either right-click in the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom or click on the [Post Reply] button on top, then select paste from the menu or simply hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and press V key to paste the link.

You could also click on the URL button and paste the link in the pop-up window then click OK.
(see second screenshot for details)

Hope this helps.

99% of what you can see on the Music forum are YT videos with dozens posted every day. At least dozens.

If you want to progress to creating your own videos

it is not that hard and I use a couple programs to get started and Vimeo for the final result.

I just highlight the whole address from address bar for the You Tube video and drag and drop it to where I want it in the post.

NONE kf these methods work for me:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGEezaAPp20

Drop and drag url method
The above has [ url ] before and [ /url ] after what you see printed and does NOT show the video.
I had to insert spaces before and after the 'url' letters otherwise they turn into the words 'before' and 'after' !
What am I doing wrong?
--------------------------
Link method with copied url
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGEezaAPp20
Two URLs beneath this.. and still no video

Copy video url.. then use link:
https://youtu.be/UGEezaAPp20

Nothing seems to work.

With your system. Not YT itself. All of your links open just fine for me.
