I need a new computer (small laptop) 11.6" but I don't like Chromecast because I'm old :-) and it's too complicated for me -- so I'd like a laptop (I guess) that uses Windows. I understand that windows 10 is going to be phased out and replaced with windows 11. If I buy a laptop using windows 10 I understand they're switching to windows 11 anyway. Comments welcome.

If you buy a renewed machine, it will be much less costly and also come with Windows 10.
Examples:

Dell Latitude 12

Lenova Thinkpad Yoga 11e

Dell Latitude E5270

Dell Latitude E6330

I am sure you can find a lot more.

Good luck!

Windows 12 is coming this fall??? If you can wait and like new features I would wait.
If you do not want new features I would get the 11 now but do not know which brand would be best. I would avoid 10 as at some point I think you would have to update your machine to 11.

That is what I understand, but I think the upgrade is free. I'll check it out with a store and hopefully I will get the right information. Thanks. What do you mean though if I do not want new features? I can get the 11 now? And will it give me problems when there is an upgrade? Boy this is difficult...sigh.

The cheapest and best for the money. I'm looking for a small laptop, like less than 12".

Thanks. I checked and the prices are good. I guess I can ask amazon as I am a Prime member so far but my question is about returns. They say 90 days but can't be used, etc. These are already used. I'll ask them. Thank you for the reference.

I would be annoyed if MS started going into a yearly "New OS" cycle.
