Do you use helpdesk software? If so, what is it? We're looking at getting something new but they're really expensive. Does anyone know of something we can buy that's reasonably priced but decent?

We're currently using ReadyDesk and it's a nightmare.

You weren't very specific as to what features you need..

Request Tracker is quite popular.

We use HEAT. I think INEXPENSIVE and HELP DESK SOFTWARE are mutually exclusive terms.

Not sure what's considered 'cheap'.

TrackIT, Magic, ReadyDesk are the three "smaller" products I've seen used in environments I've been in. And none has ever been as good as Remedy. But Remedy isn't exactly turnkey out of the box nor cheap. I guess you do get what you pay for.

I used to work at a small place that used Help Desk Software, Customer Service Software, Support Desk Software

No idea what it costs.

This is what I use at work, Help Desk Software, ITIL ready IT Help Desk Tool by ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus

It has some cool features like automatically completing certain tasks (like changing a user's password if he forgets it).
