Besides that, I couldn't find information on New Haven-Long Island ferries though there is a Bridgeport-Port Jefferson ferry.

The ferries aren't going to help since he works in New York City (11101 = Long Island City in western Queens) and not Long Island. So, I stand by Brewster/Danbury as my recommendation. It's not going to be pleasant for either of you. He has MTA/Metro North Commuter Railroad and MTA/New York City Subway as an option; you don't.

In all honesty, with where your jobs are you BOTH either need to commute VERY far on a daily basis, or one of you needs to give up the job and try to find one closer to the others.

I agree. The quality of life for each of you (and you as a couple) is greatly compromised.

Thanks a lot for all your replies, really didnt expect so many replies and responses. Thanks once again.

Let me then choose some other options. I have one more option to work from Pearl River, NY. Following is the address
401 NORTH MIDDLETOWN ROAD,
PEARL RIVER,
NY,10965

I checked the Nj Transit etc it seems more than an hour of travel from jersey city and it suggests to walk around 20 minutes from pearl river station to the office, does anyone know any other alternative public commute?.

Is there a place which is near by this location which doesnt costs more $ rent.

Wow,that is a real commuter nightmare. If you both drove, you could live somewhere like Bridgeport area, and it would be a long drive for each of you, but I don't think this commute is possible for either of you by public transportation. Have you thought about asking for a 4 day, 10 hr/day workweek and having long weekends together until you can work out jobs closer to each other? Thought about learning to drive?

So, you'd be looking for something midway between Pearl River and Long Island City? Since both are in New York, you would be better off posting this in the New York forum.

Well at least you are in the same state, even though you would be on opposite sides of the Hudson River.

You could check with yout employer and see if they have a shuttle from the station to the office. Often suburban companies do. I also agree you should post this on the New York Board. Jay
