Honestly, I'm hoping for a lot of the white stuff. If it's going to be cold and gloomy, might as well snow.

Because most of us don't spend our free time sitting in front of a gaming console for 8 hours a day and don't consider walking to the fridge excersize.

Relaxing, my comfort zone is about 50-75*

Working it's 25-50*...You'll still see steam coming off my back in 30* weather and I'm sweating...when the sun is strong on a 30* day I'm walking around in a sweater or sweatshirt and comfortable.

Actually though I wish about 2 million more felt the same way. IMO the worst thing about CT is theres too many people & its lost its New Englandishness. To a large extent thats been replaced by the concept we are a suburb of NY. If 2 million people followed suit & moved down to the humid bug ridden sweaty south CT, would regain some of its lost charm and lose many of the whiners and control freaks that have us moving in the direction of MA & NY, the socialist havens of the north east.

So, I wish you all the best and hope many follow your lead!
Ah, you live in Stratford...suburban NYC. The rest of CT has hardly lost it's New England Charm. Come on up and see what the rest of us still enjoy in that regard.

Even towns in southwestern Fairfield County still have New England charm. Heck, much of Long Island and Westchester/Putnam are New Englandly!

In landscape, sure I agree...but the people are definetly "NY" in speach and attitude. I think it starts to stop around Waterbury on 84 and starts to wane around East Haven going East.

True. My parents live in a new "active-adult" community in Oxford and you'd think you were in Long Island with the accents.

I never see anyone wearing a flannel shirt southwest of Waterbury - except maybe in Bethany.

The world is rapidly getting smaller thanks to the media and internet. That includes Connecticut and the entire country. You will find New York influences everywhere these days. The world is just not the same anymore. Jay

Man what I would give to have just a slight bit of New England charm and CT feel, especially from the people down here in NC. We have heat, we have crowds, we have plenty of traffic and we have people packed in like sardines which just makes them ornery. I will take the friendliness of the folks in CT ANY DAY!!! I was just back up for my annual golf tournament and the people were so much fun and friendly. Went back into my old job and the place basically shut down to welcome me and my family back in there. I have a problem when I go back up there too that so many folks want to say hello and see us that we have to turn them down due to time constraints. So much for people not being friendly.

It was great weather and a great time. You can't beat the 4 seasons in New England and all that there is to do up there year round.

I LOVE CONNECTICUT!!

The thread caught my eye on the way to somewhere else and I had to pop in and read. From a citizen that comes from a city that it is common for some whiners to bash because it's not just like where they came from - it's refreshing to read that malcontents are everywhere and not just in Houston.

Don't bother defending your city or state - some people just love to complain and whine - and they want to see the bad in everything that they are not familiar with. You are best off ignoring them and hoping that they go away and bestow their sparkling personality elsewhere.

Connecticut is not like Texas. Wyoming is not like California. New Mexico is not like Vermont. People who pout about those facts are extremely dense. America is extremely varied - and that's a good thing. Good advice is if you don't like it somewhere - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE and SHUT UP.

BTW, I think your state is beautiful - but so is mine (but different).

I am reminded of when my mother went to China and complained about the fact that none of her regular chain restaurants were there.????? I have no idea why she ever left home.

Just a quick note - the OP just joined and has made only one post, which is a whine about a state he/she just moved from? Anyone find that odd?

You said a mouthful:

I read the endless pages of wining, complaining, drivel that one place is so much better/worse than another. As if a move from one location to another will solve all the problems in life. The location they are considering leaving has only problems…the location they are moving to has only attributes – lol. Then there is the ridiculous comparisons of the most unfair points: Yes, there are more chances for boating in Florida than in Iowa…or the ethnic food choices are worse in Maine than in NYC…or I’ll have my AC on more if I move to Arizona as opposed to Wisconsin – lol. The worst joke is how the same thing means different things in each regions/state: Wear a flannel shirt in Compton or Watts its “gangsta”… wear a flannel shirt in Connecticut its “New Englandy” …wear a flannel shirt in rural Georgia it’s “redneck”…wear it in Utah or Maryland and it means “nothing” – lol. A local is you/ your image of an area/state…an outsider is someone who looks/dress differently and perceives your area in a totally different way. There is an Asian family that I love that moved in at the end of the street where I live in the coastal eastern Connecticut area: Between the low/flat landscape with all the marshes, the straw hats they wear in summer, all the bamboo and wind chimes they have all over the place…it looks like some delta in southeast Asia (I love it!). Yet, it drives the locals nuts. When I aksed these people why? Someone said the end of the street doesn’t look like it’s in Connecticut anymore – lol. As if there is an approved "look" a state or region must conform to - lol.
