"I drooled when he said winter was 8 months.."

so true.. heck we barely have 1 month of cold weather around here. Nov can still be in the 50's, 60's and there have been a lot of Christmas' that were 45 or above. it's always spring-like in March and Feb is kind of a transitional month so Jan is pretty much the only real cold month we have.

To the OP. Give me a break! You could find a thread for every state that starts with "I hate (fill in the blank)". I'm sure the people of CT are happy to see you go, I would be!

I agree with the OP that CT is cold more often than not. IMO the cold period runs from mid Oct to mid Apr, so I would say 6 months of cold. Heck, for the past couple of weeks, I have had to turn the heat on in my car on my morning commute. I don't understand why so many New Englanders complain about heat. Put some shorts and a tee on and enjoy the sun. 90 degrees is totally tolerable IMO. To me, 20 degrees is absolutely unbearable, even with a jacket on, especially with windchills. Here is how I look at it (an extreme example)....Would you rather stand outside naked for 15 minutes in 20-degree weather or in 90-degree weather? I know I wouldn't last 1 minute in 20 degrees. In 90 degrees, I could last for hours.

I will admit, however, that 90 degrees with no AC indoors is absolutely awful. My AC is from the 80's and doesnt work well, so I suffered from indoor heat quite a bit this summer.

Heck, one time I went to an infrared sauna, naked, for a half hour in 140-degree conditions and was fine.

This is such a strange way to look at it.

Here's the OTHER extreme:

Would you rather stand outside with a huge winter coat on for 15 minutes in 95 degree weather or in 20 degree weather? I know I wouldn't last 1 minute in 90 degrees, but in 20 degrees, I could last for hours.

I wouldn't say that people in Connecticut are rude, but I would say they are cold. Neighbors wave, but rarely speak unless spoken to. Fall is absolutely beautiful, though, for three months that I must say. But then the winter sets in for about 8 months. The sky is gray, all the time, except of course when there is a quick break in the clouds for more gray. On the one hand, I liked not having people in your business all the time, but, I must say, it's good to be out of there. The cost of living is astronomical, the taxes are ridiculous, and the traffic unbearable. But, at least, one can always look through the windshield at the gray sky.

Great first post.
Actually though I wish about 2 million more felt the same way. IMO the worst thing about CT is theres too many people & its lost its New Englandishness. To a large extent thats been replaced by the concept we are a suburb of NY. If 2 million people followed suit & moved down to the humid bug ridden sweaty south CT, would regain some of its lost charm and lose many of the whiners and control freaks that have us moving in the direction of MA & NY, the socialist havens of the north east.

So, I wish you all the best and hope many follow your lead!

If you live in southwestern CT, you are living in a suburb of NY.

Oh goodie another thread on why CT sucks....Do you guys have nothing else to do? let me know when you find a state you can call Utopia cause you know what? It doesn't exist!! Every area has its pros and cons.

Give me a nice new england fall day anytime. Maybe those of you who complain about CT should actually get out and explore the state a bit more.

I don't see it that way....there have been Thanksgivings where I have had to open windows because my house was too hot...and the kids are still running around playing outside.

IMO, the cold starts in December and lasts until mid March. 3.5-4 months tops of cold. That leaves 8 - 8.5 months of beautiful weather.

For some people the glass will always be 1/2 empty, wont it?

Pretty much

Last year we actually were fine with long sleeves and pants when we went to pick out our x-mas tree, it wasn't cold at all that day (and week if I recall correctly). You guys make it sound like October comes and suddenly its 30 degrees out until march.

No, but when October comes, that's when the uncomfortable 50's temperatures start to come in, and it only gets colder from there. And you have to deal with heat, warming up your car, and wearing bulky jackets, and of course, shoveling snow, etc. But again, it's subjective. To me, anything under 60 is simply cold. Even 60's are a bit chilly IMO.
