Such a sad situation. In rural New Milford, Ct. a side road with only one way in or out was completely isolated from the rest of the world by last weekends 5" of rain in a few hours storm. A normally well behaved stream tore a 30 ft. gash across the width of the street. The street name is Chinmoy Lane, recently dubbed "Chinmoy Island" by the 20 or so families stranded indefinitely until a temporary road is cut in through the Michael Gold estate on neighboring Meetinghouse Rd.

Anyhow, the closest neighborhood with adjoining back yards is Carl's Lane. Another rural cul-de-sac development of 2 acre zoned lots in a heavily wooded setting. The shortest direct bee line to a paved road is via the cul-de-sac off Chinmoy through the wooded property on Carl's La.

So whats happened through this natural disaster of sorts is how the community has come together to.................now wait a minute you thought this was going to be a heartwarming story with a nice ending, huh??? Hold onto your seats. The neighbors on Carl's La. have joined forces to KEEP OUT their stranded neighbors and keep them from picking up rides to work, doctors office (for sick kids) or just to go food shopping for the necessities of life. New NO TRESPASSING signs have been posted, and Chinmoy residents have reported being harassed and yelled at by their neighbors. The Carl's La. residents are citing lawsuits as concearn for their contempt as the neighbors may 'get injured" walking to the cul-de-sac from the Chinmoy cul-de-sac.

Now, I wonder if the Carls La property owners are so apt to add additional insurance during the 'summer BBQ" or the "pool party for the kids friends"? Are they so concearned for the oil delivery man wading through 34" of snow for 130 feet trying to find their oil fill to keep their smug a$$es warm all winter? Im sure the mailboxes are all warm to the touch so the mailman doesnt get frostbite as well.

Feel free to google the story, its been covered by the Danbury News Times and Im sure the Litchfield newspapers as well.

Chinmoy Lane: 'We feel abandoned here' - NewsTimes

Funny, I read this online this morning and thought "Gotta love Connecticut". It's really not funny though. Reminds me of the horse farm in Bethany with a beautiful wrought iron entrance with wording that spells "GO AWAY".

I took your advice and did check the internet- Seems like the situation is resolved.

A neighbor is permitting a road to be built across his property ( this was being done today ) and the town is installing a temporary bridge next week. So one good hearted neighbor saves the day in spite of the cranky ones.

Yea, I mentioned that Mike Gold is allowing construction of temporary access from his Estate to gain entry/exit from West Meetinghouse Rd. That construction was "started" today. In process of clearing all the Oaks,Maples, Hickory's etc.. The metal bridge will be delayed until the carnage from the current Nor'easter is well past. Believe me, it will not take less than a week to complete. Not quite "resolved", just a very dim light at the end of the tunnel if you reside on Chinmoy Island. Either way, relief is quite some time from becoming reality.

In the meanwhile, Im glad to see the good ol' American Spirit and brotherhood in action as entire neighborhoods join hands to prevent victims of disaster from seeking employment, food and medical

Do you guys act like a neighborhood during good times? Its sure a shame that people act like that but many times we only expect people to act like neighbors when we need them.

To me this sounds like a newspaper trying to create a story. One person does not want people using their property as a cut-thru. It does not mean everyone on that street is bad. Again the media hyping the situation. Jay

Add this to the long list of reasons why I want to get out of here. The state is getting closer to going up in flames and people like this are still adding fuel. When that day comes, these neighborhoods will be prime targets for home invasions and looters. Knowing that the neighbors don't look out for each other makes it an even more tempting target. My neighborhood also has a long history of this same type of bad behavior. When this state finally reaches the flash-point I won't be shedding any tears for people like this.

So reserved or even rude people deserve to be robbed and/or hurt? Is that what you're saying?

Wow...

I'd say it's a matter for their god or fate or karma or whatever else you want to call it to decide. But I will tell you I won't be shedding any tears.

I don't know...I think if I was in a position to help people stranded, even if I never met them, I would. It's called being humane.
