Wow, I just got back from a party and I must say, the new LED lighting looks great! The city looks so nice that I might just go out one of these nights, just to photograph the place.

Everything looks so nice and clear, with a nice shine to boot.

When I do, I'll post the pics here for all of you to see.

Are any other cities/towns in the state changing their street lights to LED?

Does anyone know why this is being done?

What are the benefits of LED vs 'normal' lighting?

Are they bluish or yellowish LED's? I really don't like the look of straight up white LED's as replacement for incandescent. Only on cars.

Lexus LS Hybrid has had them for a while as low beams.

Most luxury brands have switched over to them as DRL's: Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche. Even the new Kia Sportage has them. Audi started that trend.

Even more cars have them as tail lights. They provide for better safety: brighter and instant-on.

Lower operating temp, longer life, more efficiency, less electricity used. Disadvantage is cost and, sometimes depending on how they're configured, difficulty in replacing.

They look white, but could be due to the dark contrast night. They might really have a bluish tint, thou.

I'll go out tonight and take a few pics.

These are the future of low energy lighting in homes. Much better than CFL since there is no mercury in the LED lights. Wish they were cheaper to buy.
