Most stations that have cash discounts, post both cash and non-cash prices on the pumps. Most stations that don't also do this on their pillar, don't do it because they don't have enough space, the pillar sign isn't designed to have 6 prices (3 grades of gas, plus 2 prices each), or they don't have enough and 3's and 9's to put all those prices on there ($3.849, $3829, $3.999, $3.929, etc).
Some stations -do- specify "cash" on their pillar sign. So - if it bothers you that cash customers pay less than you do, or that you feel they should specify on their pillar sign, then get your gas at a station that has the same price for both, or specifies which one the price is for on the pillar sign. It isn't all that complicated, and there are plenty of gas stations around who can accommodate most customer sensitivities.
The station I use, has 2 prices for each grade: 1 with the Stop & Shop card, and 1 without the Stop & Shop card. I get a FURTHER discount because I actually buy enough stuff to get one, every 2 weeks when I fill up my tank.
Well, if they are gonna be greedy MFers and charge more for credit they SHOULD get a big enough pillar sign to clearly show ALL prices from the street. Id think that most people that swipe a card to buy gas would fill up almost everytime, that bigger purchase would cover cc fees easily. Be greedy, you don't get my business at all.
I use the gas buddy app anyway and get my gas 3 miles over the Ma. line mostly and save anywhere from 20-40 cents per gallon over what is around me in Ct or Ny.
Yes the credit card companies charge a percentage to the store owners. But we shouldn't be penalized for using our debit card. Debit should mean the same as cash.

I agree. Though the banks won't admit it, using your debit card at the ATM saves them money. Otherwise the bank would have to hire people to handle your transactions. That adds to the costs. Jay
I ALWAYS pay for gas with credit with 2 exceptions: 1) I have a large bill $20 or $50, and need cash for something. That way I can put in like $10 or $15 worth and get some change back. 2) If I'm traveling back from somewhere and decide to fill up, I try not to put anything thats going to be more then $10 on credit.
I have a gas station, and it costs just SLIGHTLY less for ExxonMobil to process an ATM card as it does to process a Visa/ MC. However, the ExxonMobil card is processed FREE, So I give the ExxonMobil CC the same discounts as cash. I encourage my customers to get one!
Still, you've gotta come across this SOMETIME. At least half if not more of gas stations out there do this.
Yeah. It's harder for me to find stations that don't charge the credit fee.
