We just saw trace to an inch on channel 5, but I've seen 2-5" elsewhere. We're in Stratford.

In conjunction with that image, the NWS issued what I think for NYC itself is its first ever October Winter Weather Advisory......it has to at least be as rare as getting a Hurricane Warning like last August with Irene:

The Weather Channel says the 5 boros actually did have an October Winter Weather Alert 40 years ago. I'm not sure when that would be (maybe 10/19/72? Only a trace in the tri-state but 0.4" in Hartford, perhaps more was predicted but didn't pan out: http://ryanhanrahan.wordpress.com/october-snow-history/), or maybe they meant 50 years ago as on October 26, 1962 1.2" actually fell at LaGuardia Airport (though every other weather station in the tri-state area including Bridgeport only had a trace except for JFK that had 0.5"):

Nice. There's so many areas that it happens often and I talk to people that love it and think its a breeze. lol

I'm mostly concerned about the widespread power outages again here. TS Irene was a disaster and that was just rain and wind...Now we got Snow and wind with leaves still on trees? Nobody is pressing that panic button yet because we just dont know.

Everyone is lucky its coming during the day mostly...If this thing slows down, up the totals another couples inches everywhere.

Watching Steve D's brand new video... he's is so bearish on calling for snow anywhere except interior and elevation.

18 minutes long but he's very detailed at why he's saying what he's saying... Right now he's repeating surface temps...and water temps.

I remember a very cold Halloween in 1993. I always thought there was snow, but maybe I'm remembering wrong?
