Records lows for today at Bridgeport is 28. Windsor locks is 23. Close but no break. Impressive air mass though. Not something we see every October but definitely not new to us. We're about 5-10 below the normal.

Wow is that TEMPERATURES? Looks like it's low 40s and below all the way down to northern Florida! And some parts of the South have mixed precip, which must be extremely rare in late October (as it is even here).

yup.. those aren't wind chills. 15-25 below normal in spots down there. In fact, 38 hours ago it was upper 70s.

We should stay cold until mid week then we warm up. Maybe upper 60s in spots on Friday! But short lived and back to cold by end of the weekend.

I fell to 31.4 F this morning! This is 9 days before my average frost date (November 4 -6th). The bananas seem ok - I think the duration of temps at or below 32 F helped, as the dry air warms fast and temps were not below freezing long. It looks like no frost again for southern/coastal areas of the Tri-State for the next week at least, so they live on for a while on borrowed time. That hard frost is out there it’s just when it comes.

At this point, no rain in sight. It looks like October 2013 will now go down as the 4th month in a row of below normal rainfall at NWS Bridgeport. Temps will moderate today as the flow starts to turn more southwest and Sunday is looking quite nice with sunshine and highs 55 to 60 F. Maybe some spotty showers late next week with mild temps (60's F). This might be the best chance of rain in the next two weeks :

I saw that too. It can be interesting to see what they get down there as well.

It looks mid/upper 40’s made it down to just below Jacksonville, at least along the coast. I checked Daytona Beach this morning and it looks like they bottomed out in the mid 50’s F. This is as far north as I could find 50's for lows along the Florida East Coast (not sure about Gulf of Mexico side). I think every NWS station above here saw lows in the 40's F:

Of course this time of year the sun is still quite strong in Florida, and unlike us, stuck in the 50’s.... they’ll see 80 F today and much of this week:

Interesting..looks like lowest temps on the whole coast are in the Western part of Virginia.
