lolol @ thinking 45 hours is somehow reprehensible... the only place I can think of where you can be guaranteed 40 hours is working for the state, or as a wage laborer.

Here's an idea: Know what you're talking about. It gives you so much more credibility.

Unemployment rate in France: 10.1%

Unemployment in Europe (monthly) - Google Public Data Explorer

Unless, of course, you are talking about that well publicized "Unemployment rate for poorly connected youth" that everyone is tracking.

You should bring that up at your next interview.

Or do something you love. I work 50+ hours a week, but I love what I do. It's not work if you enjoy it.

Same here!

I worked 56 hours last week and didn't mind it one bit. Now if my former boss were to ask me to do that at my job pre-career change, he'd get a chuckle out of me.

Well, my current job only demands 40-45 hrs per week, so I'm not complaining too much there. And it's not easy to just do something I love, in this economy, when employers are being super picky with their candidates. They don't want career changers. They want those who are experienced in their particular arena. So I'm basically trapped in tax accounting for a while.

Save your money and become self employed. I now a lot of people that tired of the corporate world or some other occupation and started their own business. Most never regret it.

LOL

As tough as my work is, I too don't have a problem doing it. It's satisfying, simple, and pays very well. My complaint is the old body aint what it used to be. lol

Hell, if I got paid to stand around and do nothing 56 hours would be cake too!

If that's what my overtime consisted of then I'd never put in over 40 hours. Doing nothing doesn't interest me one bit.
