I think the issues are well known. We have high pension obligations after years of underfunding. I don’t think we get little in return for our taxes. We certainly get as much, if not more than other states. Jay

State employees are bleeding us dry.

Having moved to another state with much less of a tax burden and far more services than I had in an affluent Fairfield County suburb, I don’t believe CT residents get what they pay for when considering their tax burden.

Yeah it doesn't make any sense. CT can't be #1 in numerous economic categories and at the same time be a huge ****hole. Capitalism is working great in CT. But according to some, CT is run by socialist commies. A socialistic economy would reduce income inequality. The Gini coefficient won't be reduced any time soon in CT trust me.

I think the issue with the Tea Party fellas on here is that the bottom rung gets more services than they do.
How dare those folks get to live it up in a lap of luxury in those beautiful projects and multi-families in Hartford, Bridgeport, and New Haven while the rest of have to slum it up in Glastonbury, Cheshire, and New Canaan.

Fine. Agree to disagree. I'm sure if I were a government employee I'd be unable to see what all the fuss is about.

You have some strange ideas about capitalism. It's clear you are an activist of some sort, so I get the angle but at least frame your opponent's argument with some level of honesty.

The argument goes something like this: the high tax burden and high levels of regulation lead to an outcome where only the rich can afford to stay and the poor cannot afford to leave. This leads to high income inequality. Is this true? Maybe. It's not the whole story but it is part of it.

CT is living off the dividend of the past, we need to start making smart investments for the future.

So exactly what services do other states provide that Connecticut does not provide? Jay
