I agree. As my father use to say: "Just because it is old does not mean it is no good". I think way too many people think that outdated decor means the house is not in good condition which is very untrue.

And nep123, just so you know, even new homes can be money pits. The cost to maintain and upgrade even the newest of homes can be a lot. Not to mention you generally pay more for a newer home. Jay

And not only that... The build-quality of many mass-built newer subdivision homes isn't near what was build 30-50 years ago. I think most homes built by skilled pros 30 years ago will outlast mass built cookie cutter homes from KB Homes built by illegal immigrant labor two weeks ago...

+1. My home was built 54 years ago and has quality you wont find in new cheaply built houses like all copper pipes, redwood beams, all brick fireplaces. And a large lot where you wont see the neighbor brushing her teeth!

+2...My home was built 165yrs ago and built to last. All post and beam (no nails) and made from trees cleared from the same land it sits on. I'd take that over the crap they build today.
