Yes, let's fine those traveling in the left lane at passing speeds so that we can leave a clear lane for jerk offs doing 85+ in a 55.

Most people traveling in the left lane are moving faster than right lane traffic and in most cases that means faster than the speed limit. If you have a problem with this then you are probably one of those *******s that just HAS to travel at obsurdly dangerous speeds.

The left lane will likely never get back to it's original intention as a passing lane. I have more of an issue with people not using their blinkers than I do with left lane traffic.

Sorry, but if I'm going 70 in the left lane on the Merritt with the intention of passing someone not too far off in the distance, and some jerk going 85 or 90 starts tailgating me, he will just have to wait until I pass that car. And I will not speed up by 1 MPH for the jerk.

And people think I should get a ticket? Connecticut drivers are the worst.

I guess they stopped enforcing it after the population of ct reached the millions..."as it should be".

No. Just give them a good beating so they know how wrong they are...at least that's my thought while I'm behind any of them.

First, no need for the sarcastic reply.

Second, it's difficult to enforce on our highways because the volume of traffic is so high. It would be silly for a police officer to force a line of vehicles out of the way to get to the guy in the front going slower than traffic on the right.

There have been numerous times when I ended up behind someone in the left lane going 55 when all other vehicles are going 65-70. It's dangerous because you'll see vehicles make daring moves to get around them, breaking other laws, such as no passing on the right (CGS 14-233) and driving too close (14-240).

There seem to be two types of people on CT's roads - aggressive who feel they're entitled to go 80-90 mph and everyone should get out of their way, or passive aggressive (or perhaps oblivious) who think it's okay to go slower than the speed of traffic and refuse to move over for anyone - even those going 65.

The above is why I roll in the center lane.

New Jersey...of all states..even takes occasional action to curtail the left-lane camping idiots.

To all you out there who refuse to budge from the left lane and refuse to let drivers who know what the hell they're doing pass you in the proper lane...please watch this video of a NJ state trooper actually doing his part to improve safety and traffic flow (no, catching speeders isnt necessarily accomplishing this..(

Dude, you know I'm a grumpy SOB. I never mean any harm by my sarcasm...

I hate slow left lane drivers as much as the next guy just not sure I can agree to it being a 200 dollar offense. Texting while driving. Sure. Updating the status of your FB page because you can't go 5 minutes without someone knowing what your doing in your personal life...uh huh, but these are really dangerous. Slow left lane drivers are just annoying. I curse at my steering wheel and pass them on the right instead of the left. No big deal.

Wow, I wish we had these cops down in the Carolinas. The drivers down here are the absolute WORST offenders of hogging the left hand lane. I would pit them against any other state. And their attitude is basically "too bad....go around me" or "stop speeding", even though most of them are going slower than the right lane. They just don't give a rat's behind.
