There needs to be an easier way for people in the Greater Hartford Area to get to Boston. The fact there isn't a direct connection is mind boggling. With my folks living in Simsbury, it would be nice to see the Windsor and/or Hartford Station have direct train to South Station. It certainly is possible.

There recently has been a huge exodus from Eastern MA --> Central CT and that missing link is certainly a hole in the service. Between people going for day trips, accessing Logan Airport, work trips, seeing family or going on a weekend vacation, Hartford really needs that connection w/o having to make a transfer at New Haven.

The reality is the US barely maintains the rail it has.

In first world developed nations, the idea that rail is getting slower, not faster, over the years––is insane. But that's our situation.

Investing in a new rail line from the Hartford area is highly unlikely, unless the feds make a massive investment on a high speed rail line AND it happens to pass through Hartford and not the shoreline.

This recommenndation has a connection between Springfield and Boston: https://www.hsrail.org/northeast/

I wonder what other public transport options are available in Connecticut?

Question arises after publishing this post in another thread. I'm not a regular user of public transport nor have I looked into this to know everything that is offered in the state (provided by the state, municipal and private enterprises -the trolley in Stamford is actually provided by the Harbor Point developers/owners, not the government at any level-.)

In another 15 years, we will match the New Haven-NYC run time of a decade back. UGH.

The Springfield train station was just gut renovated 5 years ago. That's what allowed the Springfield extension of the Hartford line to work.

The Boston-Montreal train runs through Springfield, so Amtrak service is possible. I think the state is studying the matter. Let's see how great Massachusetts can be.

They need high speed rail between NYC to Montreal and Toronto and Hartford to Boston hourly train, Providence to New Haven hourly train.

agreed. I'd add in we need some Shoreline East stops hourly going to Providence also.

Not surprising, I-95 in Connecticut has made the list of the most loathed highways in the country. What is surprising is that it is only No. 11 on the list. Should it be higher? Jay
