By the way!!

How many of you are under 54 yrs old?

Well... if you are ... you never experienced such warmth in September.

Sept 1 - 9 period is 2nd warmest on record.

Warmest was 1961 at BDL & 1959 at BDR and not by much

NUTS!!!

Here's BDL temps this month. Missed the heat wave at the beginning which NYC got. Lowest temp so far this month is 52. Max is and should remain 96 which is the max of the year as well.

Don't get mad guys but.... the south will be colder then us this weekend for the lows.
I'd be upset if I was going south! I had to water some plants this morning, I was surprised at how little we got, considering my phone was blowing up with storm notifications all night.

?? What service do you have that provides them? Time to change? Do not use a news service station.

I have posted to my blog with some info and which to use. Just use WeatherUSA.net, that's sufficient and only sends when NWS issues them. I haven't gotten one in a long time since there hasn't been anything severe

It's WFSB and the Courant. They are getting so crazy with notifications that I'm going to turn them off. I just got two that a baby was delivered on I95 this morning that's really nothing I need in my head.

I have also been getting one every night just before 11pm from WFSB about the next days weather and to watch the news. Actually, that's good enough reason to shut it down. There's obviously notifications that are critical enough that I want to see them, but they're getting way too invasive.

The weather apps are pretty good about only doing NWS ones.

An interesting side note....until about the last 5 years or so September and October were unique in places with long temperature records in the Northeast in that unlike the other months most "warm records" were very "top heavy" in distant decades ago (as opposed to "top heavy" post-1980) for whatever reason, and it hasn't really changed much anyway (most of the top 10s in average temperature for both months are before 1990, the only 100+ September readings for both NYC and Boston occurred in 1953 and (believe it or not) 1881!, NYC had a 97 degree day on Sept. 23 way back in 1895, all of the 90+ days for October in NYC occurred in 4 different years between 1927 and 1941.....those are just a few examples).

An even better example again using Central Park's long record, when the 97 degrees on Tuesday broke the record for the date (93 set (here we go again) in both 1919 and 1916), it was the first time since 1986 that a record high was set on a September date. In fact, October only has 2 dates with record highs in the 21st century, and one of them (79 on October 24, 2001) was the first October record high there for any date in 30 years!). None of the other months are like that.

It's easy to find but what criteria would you use? Obviously the "max" doesn't happen in September a lot so it cant be that. Would it be more the anomaly? So if we checked how many 80+ there was in September vs 90+ in July would that show what you're saying?

Here's a look at Connecticut's extremes for this year.. Since we won't be getting higher than our max anymore and the low usually doesn't happen in December, these are most likely locked for 2015.

Interesting how Danbury's range is close to northern CT.

Bridgeport, CT

Low: -2F (2/16)
High: 94F (9/8)
Range: 96F

Danbury, CT

Low: -13F (2/24)
High: 91F (9/7 & 7/29)
Range: 104F

Hartford, CT

Low: -9F (2/21)
High: 96F (9/8)
Range: 105F
