They said they plan to make "changes" and "improvements". We shall see.

One thing I like about CT is all the great food options. Many may knock this a place known for pizza pizza pizza everywhere you go...Has changed with great Thai Restaurant and a Comedy Club/Pub food in Naugatuck. I am still leary with Sushi in CT. Waa recommended two great places in Trumbull and Mystic. Next time in Mystic may give it a go though.

Sakura on Straits Tpke in Watertown (near Staples) has surprisingly good sushi.

There's plenty of great sushi. Why would you be leery? Maybe in rural Kansas, but we have excellent ethnic food of all kinds.

I agree - some of the best sushi I've had was in CT.

I am a bit surprised that this store is closing. Maybe I shouldn't be since it was one of the sites proposed for a casino recently but Macy's is also closing their nearby store at the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, Massachusetts. With the closing of both of these, customers in northern Connecticut and Springfield must either go up to Holyoke or down to Buckland or Westfarms for a Macy's store. Seems like a large area and population that will no longer have easy access to a Macy's store. This looks to be a numbers game of closing stores that do not make enough of a profit rather than a well thought out consolidation IMHO. If they closed one of these stores, customers there would likely then travel to the other store since it is not that far away. Simple logic which unfortunately does not get applied to many corporate decisions. Jay

I see what you're saying, but to play devils advocate, I think people generally shop in areas that have other stores nearby that fits their needs. People aren't going to go out of their way to visit this store when they can go to a place like West Farms or Buckland and have access to whatever they want. My guess is that most of Macy's customers in all store locations in that area are mall browsers, not those who view Macy's alone as a destination. If that's the case, I completely understand closing a store that doesn't have as supportive of a base around it as other area Macy's. Just my take.

Norwalk officially confirmed District Center at Waypointe last night. The movie theatre, Nordstrom Rack, Container Store, and, additionally, an upscale bowling alley. As well as additional departments.
