About a month ago, I moved into a 600 sq ft 1 bd apartment in New Britain for $1,010 per month with heat included. It's fully renovated as of last month and has a laundry room just steps away from my unit. My apartment search was very tough, because the lack of 401k matching from my employer, as well as very high health insurance premiums ($200 per biweekly paycheck), means a good $300-400 in benefits lost from what a normal employer would provide. And no bonus eligibility. So, I intentionally got an average-priced apartment, to make up for the loss in employer provided benefits.

$1000 seems really high for New Britain. I guess rental prices have gone up since last time I checked

You work in finance. Surely you should know when you say you are "carrying a balance" it implies you are indeed carrying a balance from month to month.

But that's my point. I said I'm NOT carrying a balance. I always pay off my credit card bill 100% by the due date every month.

Your original quote was "I now only have like $58K in cash left in the bank and a huge credit card balance of like $7K. " You never specified above that you always pay off your balance - you said it like it was a huge issue/problem for you. If you pay it off every month, why even bother to mention it - you can say you have $51K in cash after all your moving expenses.

All I wanted to point out was that even though I have like $58K in cash, if you factor in the $7K in credit card debt, I really have like $51K, which sucks.

Another classic line. I have missed nep a little.

I'm still trying to figure out why you ever left CT in the first place. Now, you've got two failed relocations under your belt, thousands less in liquid assets and $8k in credit card debt. On top of that, you knew all along places like NC or OH would never work for you based on your own expectations, opinions, ideals, etc.
