With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations for Appliance Stores in the Danbury/New Haven/Hartford area.

Looking mainly for kitchen appliances, dishwasher, fridge, type of stuff, and rather not the Big Box Stores if it can be helped.

I like a place that takes responsibility for what they sell, from purchasing through delivery and setup to if their is a problem 6 months on.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the days of a good local store taking responsibility for the appliances they sell are gone. The best I have found now is S.K. Lavery in West Hartford, Glastonbury and North Haven. I also think Portland Electric in Portland is good and I believe Hallocks in Branford is good too. Jay

I recently needed to buy a new washer and dryer. I went to a big box home improvement store, and couldn't even get anyone to talk to me.

In the end, I went to our local PC Richard. In the past, the way salesmen glommed on to me when I walked in made me uncomfortable, but darn it if I'm going to drop a serious amount of cash I expect someone to at least talk to me!

I felt that the price I paid for the appliances was reasonable, delivery and haul away of the old appliances was included, and the delivery guys set the new appliances up and even hooked up the dryer vent hose, which I've always found to be a pain.

I would definitely consider using them again.

I had planned on getting a new washer dryer and waiting for a Memorial day sale. Thinking Best Buy would be the best buy.

Everyone was still $399+ for an Amana or Roper so I patiently waited for better brands to drop down..

Friday night I found a PC Richard sale on a Whirlpool... $329 Ea.

Went in and purchased them. They asked if I want to open up a store credit, I said no. They said they would deliver for free if I did. I said Lets do it. Good deal. I like how they allow you to negotiate..

I'll let you know how delivery goes tomorrow.

I had good luck with Zemel's in the past, and they price matched for me.

Wow, that is a store I had not heard about in years. Can't believe they are still around. They used to have a store in the Brookside Shopping Center on North Main Street in Bridgeport and my parents bought their TV's there back in the day. Did not know they were still around with a store in Danbury. Jay

I like Aitoro's in Norwalk. They also service what they sell, which is a plus to me.
