Unfortunately the days of a good local store taking responsibility for the appliances they sell are gone. The best I have found now is S.K. Lavery in West Hartford, Glastonbury and North Haven. I also think Portland Electric in Portland is good and I believe Hallocks in Branford is good too. Jay

I recently needed to buy a new washer and dryer. I went to a big box home improvement store, and couldn't even get anyone to talk to me.

Wow, that is a store I had not heard about in years. Can't believe they are still around. They used to have a store in the Brookside Shopping Center on North Main Street in Bridgeport and my parents bought their TV's there back in the day.
