I believe Lamont is more compassionate than Malloy. I was hoping Lamont would beat Malloy in the past and I think the voters should’ve voted for him back then.

Just give him a chance and see where things go and how he is going to bring new energy in this state. For now, I’m going to be optimistic.

And I do think a Republican Governor would try to stop or extremely reduce funding for the categories above, but the CT population wouldn't go for it and that Gov would be bounced out on his ass ASAP.

That was my point about the budget and the empty rhetoric about slashing spending. It's like pretty much any blue state budget where more than half of the money goes to the bottom 20%. Connecticut is worse than most because of the debt and unfunded pension liability. Connecticut can at least say they're better off than Illinois.

New Hampshire, with no cities, plays the tax arbitrage game. If you need a safety net, you move to Vermont or Massachusetts. In theory, Connecticut could play the same game but it would cause massive hardship for the bottom 500K people in the state with half of those children. It would also have pretty frightening consequences to the elderly poor in nursing homes and the low income regional hospitals if you did an Alabama to Medicaid.

Example? No layoffs . How can you guarantee people a job when you don't have the money to pay them ? Easy. The customer is always right.
BINGO. Malloy was a good union steward masquerading as governor.

During his tenure, he said a contract offer was final, issued 6k pink slips, rescinded them. Blinked.

It was all a ruse to mask his pro State Union mentality.

We need to hope we get govs, post Lamont, not in the union's back pocket. If one is not in the back pocket, a final offer is a final offer-and the pink slips stand.

Lamont and the Democrat Legislature are going to be a disaster. This state is in major trouble and it will only get worse. Major cuts to wasteful programs and entitlements need to happen. Connecticut is a beacon for the illegals and people looking for freebies. No mention of sanctuary cities and the drain of them to the taxpayers of Connecticut. Lamont will try to create any new revenue / tax that he can. Legalized marijuana, sports betting, new casinos. I also have a fear about more restrictive gun control. Connecticut voters made this a very close election. Lamont hopefully will try to moderate his positions to reflect the voters in the state. I think a future economic slowdown / recession will really hurt Connecticut because we are so unprepared for it. 8 years of Malloy and now Lamont will be a lot to overcome.

I have an idea for some quick savings. Drop football at UConn. The program brings in just 7M but costs 20M to run. Team barely draws an average of 20k these days to the 40k seat Rentschler Field. Team will likely not have a single FBS win this year and no one in the state cares about the program. Drop the sport and reallocate the money in Storrs with the state reducing its contribution to the school by that saved 13M. No academics would adversely be affected. Easy choice. Convert Rentschler to a soccer facility. Save a further 10M on the foolish Dillon Stadium rebuild and have the new Hartford USL team play in East Hartford.

Not sure where to put this but he just tweeted it... does he or anyone that supports him see the path we're on with these guys?

What did you expect Lamont to say? Of course he is behind the Democrat’s choice just like the Republicans mostly support Trump/Pence. That’s politics. Jay

One party rule is bad regardless of which party is in charge. There needs to be a balance of powers like there used to be in CT to keep both sides honest.
