We did. We really enjoyed Maine. Enjoyed Portland and suburbs. Was quiet not to big population wise. Colleges, hospitals, and everything else was right there little driving. Home cost were too high.

For job opportunities and stretching our dollar staying in CT is the best option. Definitely think though sticking to rural towns be the best. Rather commute then live in a crowded area of the State and live in a town with a small tight knit downtown/community.

Eventually like to move to Torrington or Niantic.

"Eventually like to move to Torrington or Niantic"

Do you mean you want to move to Torrington or Niantic in retirement?

Probably buy up here for 5 to 6 years then eventually move to these two areas of the State

Niantic is nice... but Torrington? To each their own.

Rent first. Figure out location and buy later. With the upcoming slow down in the economy, early 2020 could bring some good home prices.

Rent for a year figure out tolerance level of travel, save money, buy cheap/discounted in a couple years.

The commute to Hartford is terrible from Plymouth. Lots of stop and go on 6/72. You're way better off commuting on 84 or 91.

It is good advice for them to rent first. That way if things change or they do not like the area, they can move to a different town. That said, I am not sure why they will be able to buy cheap or discounted in a couple of years. No one knows where the real estate market will be. Jay

I’d suggest placing yourself around the North Haven/Wallingford/Meriden area. It’s an easy ride up to Hartford and Bridgeport wouldn’t be a terrible commute. You’ll hit some traffic around the tunnel but nothing horrendous.
