Humidity value can remain the same while moisture in the air outside changes. Dewpoints is a better measure of how humid it is.

"Contrary to what it seems the relative humidity is NOT at 80-90% when its humid in summertime. RH is "relative to the temperature". 90° air holds more moisture than 50° air. The amt. of moisture is more but the bucket is bigger. So the percentage stays between 40-50% not 90%"
Cam--thank you. Periodically, I need to re-educate my friends & peers about this. It's so common to hear "90 degrees and 90% humidity" when in reality that's almost impossible to occur.

I did some legwork on this years ago in relation to an industrial problem we were trying to solve. If I recall correctly, the highest observed dewpoint anywhere in the world was 95 F in Saudi Arabia (i.e. 95 F with 100% humidity).

Not sure if 95 was the highest, wouldn't that mean you're under water? lol. I think mid-upper 80s is but all I can tell you is above 64 is when I get really uncomfortable. Above 70 I'm just miserable. It took me a little while to learn to use the dews. I grew up thinking humidity was the value to use in relation to how humid it was outside..

Columbia South Carolina right now has a humidity of 45%. One would think "its not that humid there". Wrong. Dewpoint is an oppressive 71° and it feels like 104°. Very humid

Hartford Humidity right now is 49%. Dewpoint is 59°! Not a bad day!

Speaking of not a bad day... Check out these Mid Afternoon Mid Summer temps! 76° Sikorsky. 78 Hartford.

Interesting article from 2017 on highest dew points ever in the US and world, looks like the 95 in Saudi Arabia is the record:

Bridgeport's highest was 80° August 5, 1979. Yikes

Thanks. I knew I wasn't nuts when I remembered 95 F dewpoint. It does sound brutal, doesn't it?

60s/Low 70s midday Mid Summer? I'll take it!

So far so good this summer. I NEVER wanna live south of CT.

# of 90s in 2020 so far:

Boston: 1
NYC: 6
Hartford: 13
Raleigh: 24
DC: 24

Can you imagine almost a months worth of 90s by Mid July? No thanks!
