Heat on again a little this morning. lol. Low-Mid 40s across CT. At least its sunny again!

Here are the Average Temperatures for May 1-11 period at BDR. Note, 2020 was colder. 1966 remains the record with an Avg temp of 46.7°. It dropped below freezing on May 10th that yr and struggled past low 50s for a few days before. And it was a HUGE difference from the prior year

Also note in 1978 and 1979 while there was only 29 yrs of records 1978 had its 4th coldest and 1979 had its 2nd warmest. One extreme to another.

Interesting side note.....because the new 1991-2020 National Weather Service climate normals are often a full degree or more higher than the 1981-2010 ones, we are starting to see days that used to be "above normal" but are now "below normal".

For example, in both BDR and Central Park today, if the high and low temps do not change, the overall average is one degree below normal for the date, but under the 1981-2010 normals (i.e. up to this year) would've been considered an above normal day (by 1 degree)

Goodbye 60's. Looks like we're done with daily highs in the 60's until fall. Barring an outlier here and there. Enough jean jacket weather, let's get that shorts and sandals weather!

I just want RAIN. It's so dry here in central CT that I am watering things every day and the allergy pollens (oak mostly) are accumulating on top of the cars. Maybe the increased pollination season is a result of this long, dry, beautiful spring we're having but still, please, rain gods, let it rain.

How about today? I consider myself central-ish CT and I've had a good on and off stretch of rain this afternoon.
