Can somebody educate me on 10-15 mile biking trails in the Danbury area or a little north or south. Not looking for a mountain bike trail but something that a road/hybrid bike can go on (packed gravel, packed, sand, etc ok). It'll be a bonus if it's a scenic bike route like around a lake/river

Thanks

I have ideas, but unfortunately I am not very familiar with your area of the state! If you want to venture further east there is the Farmington River Trail or even further east is the Airline Trail, Vernon rail to trails.

I used to go off 684 to a paved trail. Katonah-ish. I’m sorry I don’t remember the name, but it was a beautiful little ride. It was very close to 684.

The trail off of 684 is the Putnam Trailway - think it starts in Brewster and goes down to NYC.

Harlem Valley Rail Trail is a bit farther of a drive, but good too. It starts in Wassaic off of NY 22 and goes quite a distance north.

Unfortunately there isn’t much else in greater Danbury. Steep Rock in Washington is pretty, but a bit short, and also very busy.

Fairfield County does not have a lot of bike trails, unfortunately. Most of the cycling takes place on country roads in places like Bethel, Newtown and Redding (if you want to stay close to Danbury). Many roads there are very nice with little traffic. Trumbull has the Pequannock Valley Greenway, which is a separate trail.

I live in Trumbull and there is the Pequonnock River Bike Trail that goes up into Monroe. The first link says it is 13.6 miles. I didn't even realize it was that long.
