looking for a womens only gym ( not just those 30 minute workout things like curves) but a real gym for women only one with a pool would be even better but not neccessary how it needs to have quality childcare available, i live near glastonbury and manchester area but am willing to drive up to 30 minutes for the right work out place. I am coming from ohio and i quess i just took my women only gym for granted there since now realizing they are few and far between around here. I found Shape Xpress that was in glastonbury that seemed like what i was looking for, but seemed to close recently, did it move to a new location, are there any other shape xpress ones around here? also looking for drop off child care hourly child care, i have seen a few child care centers that offer it but are there any just drop off hourly child care centers? other than in the casino? also has anyone used the kidz quest at the casino here? if so what ages were your children? where did they sleep if it was late? etc? any info would be very helpful, also looking for infant/toddler sized life jackets called a few places i can't find one, anyone know of any places that have them in stock? Looking to work part time soon, any one know what you make an hour at bright horizons? last question for now... looking for toddler play areas, and toddler pools, saw one in glastonbury that has splash pool anyone use that? went to ocean park beach recently any other beaches in ct offer things for toddlers like rides, pools ,etc thanks for the help, anyone else out there from ohio recently with toddlers?

Infant/ Toddler sized life jackets are carried just about everywhere.

I've seen them at BJ's warehouse (though you need to be a member) I bought one from Ocean State Job Lot as well for about 5 bucks.

Good Luck

Gyms that are exclusively for women with really nice facilities are basically non existent here. Most health clubs/gyms are COED.

she said in the original post that she wasn't looking for 30 min place like curves.

if you're ever down around the shoreline there are boating supplies stores all over the place (i.e. west marine). if all else fails for the tddler life jacket you should absolutely be able to fine one at one of those places.

I'm a parent, and I don't know of any hourly drop-in childcare places-I know what kind you mean, but I don't know of any here, at least in central CT. One of my kids went to KidzQuest once when we went to a concert at Mohegan-she was 6, she went while I had coffee with friends after the show. She enjoyed it, but I don't know that I'd put a toddler there. It seemed really busy with lots of kids about.

Check Walmart for the lifevest, if not-one of the boat supply places along the shore should have it. You could probably order it online, too.

There is a sprayground in West Hartford at Wolcott Park, off New Britain Ave. You don't have to be a resident, it's free. I imagine there must be some east of the river too, I don't know exactly though.

There is a women-only gym in my area with 70 plus weekly classes and equipment, but it would be too long a drive for you.

I was just googling and also found several women-only gyms, but this one may still be a long drive for you:

Women's Fitness Center for Weight Loss & Exercise. Watertown, Connecticut

Oh wait, here's one in Manchester:
Women's Fitness Center: Personal Training. Manchester, CT

And a few mentioned in Glastonbury:
