They are all rated in the 4-5 range out of 10 on Greatschools.net. SO you can't generalize "CT schools" based on Stratford. The schools in my town are all 9 and 10s. And they are most certainly not overrated.
Actually a realtor shouldn't be commenting on the schools at all. I also wouldn't be using greatschools to make decisions on what the "best" school systems are.

Why shouldn't a realtor comment on schools? I thought there was a 1st amendment in the USA, even in CT.

I have been using Great Schools alot as I'm moving to a new state, but I can tell you when the schools in a particular town are rated a 4 or 5, I'm not sending my kids there no way no how.

Ridgefield schools are among the top in the nation and they are rated 9s, and 10s....are you arguing that that is not accurate?
Hey whatever make you feel good about where you live. I'm saying that there are other things to consider (as well as sources) aside from what great schools tells you. If its important for you to tell people you live in "one of the nations top school districts", then thats all you need.

No, CT is exempt from the first amendment. Didn't you know?

Realtors are not allowed to "steer" buyers into what they think is a "good" school district. Whats good for one family may not be good for another. Buyers need to do their own homework on neighborhoods and schools.

I could be wrong but I thought REALTOR ethics prevented steering (and I believe the Fair Housing Act) when it came to race-- ie. A REALTOR can't suggest a certain neighborhood to an African American families because other African American families live there, or a REALTOR can't direct you to a "Jewish" neighborhood...

I think (and again, if a REALTOR reads this, please correct me) they can provide school information that is factual such as test scores, ratings, and reputation...

Going by what Realtors have said on the boards, I don't think they can. I'm not a Realtor and could be wrong though...

No, i think they can tell people where to find the information, but should not be dispensing it.

I'm a realtor in CT and if the information is not factual you shouldn't comment on a school being good or great at all....you learn that in the principals and practice course before you get your license... never comment on how good a school is...you can have a lawsuit on your hands if you do...has happened many times before.... best would be to direct the client to where the schools are and have them find out themselves...setup a meeting or tour with the schools for your clients isnt a bad idea either...
