Hello, I'm moving to Connecticut soon and needs apartment search advice. I'll be working most of the time at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in new britain but occasionally go to UConn Health Center...

New Britain is very hit or miss. Campus View is the opposite of quiet (college parties and cops ALL the time), so take that one off your list. Franklin House is in downtown NB, neither safe nor quiet, wouldn't walk around at night there, and there's nothing to walk TO besides a CVS and some run-down plaza stores.
For $900, you should be able to find a studio or very small 1 bedroom in West Hartford, so I'd suggest focusing your search there. Try looking at Criaigslist and Realtor.com for rentals.

If you can find an apartment in New Britain that's located in either the Stanley Park/Golf Course area or Walnut Hill Park neighborhood, definitely check it out. These areas are actually pretty nice. The streets themselves are walkable but there's not really any stores that are close. But it would probably be less expensive.
As for 711 FarmingtonAve in W Hartford, that neighborhood is fine. There's actually a few mid-rise apartment buildings right next to each other on that strip and they've always appeared well-kept. Still, get a look at the unit there before you sign a lease. WH Center would be a long walk, but on the avenue closer to that apartment building there are a few stores and ethnic restaurants (Butterfly, Tokyo Sushi is opening in a couple weeks, a few Indian grocery stores, etc.)

West Hartford near Blue Back Square and the Center is your best bet. There is a lot of rental housing within walking distance.

I don't know when you're planning to move, but you could ask around at some local universities, like UHart. Sometimes a few students will get together and rent a house or a large apartment, and one of them will leave a couple months earlier than the others, because they're attending a summer program or leaving school. Depending on the landlord, you might be able to sublet the vacant room, and make up the end of the previous tenant's lease. If the living arrangement works for you, you might stay on through the year.
