MSNBC is still on the air? I thought no one was watching it and the powers that be at MSNBC announced they were not a news channel. Drama and entertainment is their venue.
I dont find any of the news organizations credible so read and listen to both extremes and research topics to get a clearer view of reality. Neither political party is even close to seeing reality through their politically tinted lenses. Listening to both extremes tells me little other than what the biases are for each as the gap between them is so wide one could drive an arm in tanks through them.
So asking about MSNBC's news format is like asking what Snow White thinks about Obamacare
Chris Matthews used to fawn over President Bush in the same manner.
I don't think he's particularly liberal, more that he's enamored (in a truly bizarre way) of men in power and how they politic and use their power and even how they strut their stuff. I'd say party or ideology is rather inconsequential to Matthews when he chooses a politician to go gaga over.
Does anyone remember the very creepy way he covered President Bush's infamous landing on the USS Abraham Lincoln in a fighter jet and rather snug attire?
However, his love of President Bush all went south as the war dragged on and Bush's popularity declined, so I believe Matthews also is persuaded by the popularity and current opinion of a particular politician. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Matthews sours on President Obama in a similar manner now that his re-election popularity has faded.
Good points....also Chris Matthews openly endorsed George W. Bush for president in the 2000 election
and voted for him.
I'm a retired conservative. With plenty of time to watch the news on all channels. I listen to MSNBC for laughs. I watch CNN days and Fox news days for straight up news. If I want conservative views I watch Hannity. To those that think that Bill O'reilly is conservative they don't know what conservative is. Bill O'reilly is middle of the road.
As an example O'reilly is for gun control (is own form).
The mystery to me is with MSNBC only having a few hundred thousand viewers primetime and Fox news primetime having millions of viewers how is MSNBC staying in business???
Bill O'Reilly is actually turning me from watching him because he is soooo middle of the road....
A daughter of mine who is so liberal, we can barely communicate, watched BO'R with me a few times when we were visiting together. She actually stated he wasn't as crazy as she had heard he was. If people would only view things with an open mind rather than what they have heard the other sheep say....and, my daughter is very political minded and up to date on current events.
Hannity I don't watch. I do like Greta VanS as being more direct and "no holds barred". Greta has grown on me.
I do watch Cnn occasionally.
I am intelligent enough and been around long enough to separate the wheat from the chaff in the news world, I think. I read several newspapers. I like to get different slants on events. But MSNBC and some of the other networks are jokes as far as I am conerned and outright liars in some instances.

Actually, I mean that Matthews choice of words was creepy, at least when heard on live tv, from an older guy. I missed Matthews' coverage of Bush on the USS Abraham Lincoln, but that sounds pretty disturbing as well.
It will be interesting to watch how the media deals with -- if they choose to at all -- Obama's declining poll numbers, especially since they gave him such an incredible hall pass on his way into office.
The American media in general disappoints me. I've actually taken to reading BBC's website, and a few other overseas sites just to see how they portray US events.
MSNBC is not a news media. It is a propaganda outlet for the Govt and socialists, like what most democrats have turned into now.
Which puts it in the same league as Fox which caters to huge corporate interests, tea party extremists, and those who would dismantle the safety net to make the wealthy wealthier.

Wow. Where to begin? First, it's not small "d" in "democrats, it's a capital D. It's so petty to play that nonsense. As much as I loathe the Republicans and believe they are intentionally destroying America, I show the respect of spelling their name correctly. You might want to do the same -- only creatures like Limbaugh and Hannity stoop to that level.
That's one. Two, if Democrats are socialists, why is it the stock market bouncing in new heights? Why is it HISTORICALLY true that the market does best under Democrats, and suffer under Republicans? If Democrats were socialists, they would have nationalized the banks when the Republicans brought this economy to its knees in 2008. May I suggest you study, or at least read a reputable book on economics, or take a fundamental course in economics?

I listen to Matthews quite a bit and if you think he is no left wing, then you gotta be a communist yourself.
Really? Matthews is a communist? First, let's look at the definition of a communist, shall we?
Quote:
Communism, the political and economic doctrine that aims to replace private property and a profit-based economy with public ownership and communal control of at least the major means of production (e.g., mines, mills, and factories) and the natural resources of a society. Communism is thus a form of socialism—a higher and more advanced form, according to its advocates. Exactly how communism differs from socialism has long been a matter of debate, but the distinction rests largely on the communists’ adherence to the revolutionary socialism of Karl Marx.
Do you hear Matthews quoting Marx? Do you hear Matthews advocating communal ownership of private industry? Me Neither. Matthews makes $5 million a year and has a reported net wealth of $16 million. Does that sound like a communist to you? Me Neither. One of Matthews' closet friends and mentors is Jack Welch, a baron of industry and former head of GE, one of the nation's largest firms.
Look, I don't mind a little hyperbole from time to time, but your post is, like, in tinfoil land.

Tit for tat. Both news outlets are bad.
I would argue, and I think effectively, that both parties are in bed with big business. The difference between Democrats and Republicans is Democrats at least have the interests of the middle class in mind when they legislate. Republicans? They have succeeded in intentionally demolishing the middle class so as to further enrich the 1%.
As to Fox News, well, they just hate America and want to see us fail. They are doing a stellar job.
