Actually the medications are the most harmful. I never heard of someone od'ing on a pack of cigarettes.
When used as intended, cigarettes KILL. When used as intended, prescription drugs do not, in most cases. What happens when things are misused is completely irrelevant to this conversation or to any sensible conversation. I can kill you with a hammer, a can of beans, or a pencil, all of which are sold at drug stores. Does that make them all weapons? No. Used as intended they are just common items. But in your estimation drug stores should take them all off the shelves, because when misused they can be deadly, right?
I am saddened that so many in this thread use these ridiculous arguments to support their viewpoints.
A cynic would say that pharmacies that sell cigarettes derive income not only from the tobacco product itself. They also make money selling medications that deal with the diseases the cigarettes caused. Sselling cigarettes is an investment for bigger returns in the future.

But those with Carrie Nation Syndrome sure do try - it's their addiction and they can't do without it. Once one thing is under control, they come up with something else that they need to decide we can't make our own decisions about and they should decide for us, because they absolutely have to have that fix.
