This post isn't for any political attacks. So please refrain from that. It is just to let everyone know that there is presently a US Marine who is being held in jail in Mexico for crossing the border accidently and was not allowed to turn around. He had 3 legally purchased guns in his truck with receipts, missed the turn, called 911 to tell them he had made a mistake and then he was arrested. The tapes have been play on TV and it is obvious he called, he was asking for help, it was a mistake and this is what Mexico is doing to him. He was in San Diego for treatment for PTSD when this happened.

He was stripped, beaten and chained to his bed and has been there for over 2 months. This is a 2 Afghanistan tour active duty Marine who is being treated like this.

We all know how we treat Mexicans who illegally come into this country and this is how they treat US Marines.

Here is the link to a petition that is going to be handed to the Mexican Ambassador to let him know Americans will not tolerate a Marine/US citizen be treated like this.

Please consider signing it.

Thank you

Bill O'Reilly: Petition

From what I understand ... the young man entered Mexico and immediately violated Mexican laws regarding arms possession. Whether he did so innocently or not, he is subject to the Mexican criminal justice system. Instead of criticizing Mexico, supporters of the freeing of the young man would be of greater more effective assistance by asking nicely for his release.

He made a wrong turn. All the documentation, video's audio, etc have been shown on TV.

When the Mexican Military make that wrong turn (with their guns) we release them. Do you think he hasn't asked "nicely"? Do you think the petition was not worded nicely? Do you think we need to be nice to people who are beating him?

They were punching him as he was naked and handcuffed to his bed. Aren't we supposed to defend Americans or is it more PC to be nice to them?

Longford....do you think we do this to all the millions of Mexicans that are in this country illegally? Do we beat them and chain them to beds like animals? Hell, we just realeased 36,000 Mexicans who were rapists, murders, DUI's,etc. and they are roaming the streets now.

If you don't want to sign it don't. I would hope American's would want to sign to support a Marine who is being tortured.

As a Vet I sympathize with this young man.

Unfortunately, I think Lonford is correct. The Marine made a serious mistake.

I heard his interview the other day and he sounded okay... maybe I only heard part of it, but he did not mention beatings in the part that I heard. Again, I might have missed a part. Being in there for two months, I'd guess he would have some bad run-ins with the guards. We need to hear the full story...

Please stop comparing this young man to Mexicans coming over illegally. Face it, they are coming over to work... Mexico is a crap hole (well, not all... there are some good parts)... I'd risk drowning and dying in the desert to leave that place as well. The (average) worse we have over here is 2000% better than the (average) worse there is over there. You cheapen the argument talking about illegals... and not all those illegals are Mexicans.

I don't think we know the full story.... if it is out there, no one is really saying. Our gov't is working, but not saying much.

His day before the judge is the 4th of June... it should have been sooner, but there is some mess with him and his attorney... attorney wanted him to lie and then the Mexican newspapers got ahold of that story. Of course, people are trying to turn it around since the lawyer was on a State dept (I believe) list... people don't know how those things work... many thousand blue moons ago I had to update a similar list.

This is a mess... feel bad for him.

Keep doing what you are doing though... it helps. I would tone down the theatrics though.

I've driven I-15 to San Ysidro/The Border a number of times, and there's a warning sign before you get to the Border about carrying guns into Mexico.

Me? I would never-ever drive into Mexico, I always park at a parking lot at the Border, and it's just a 9-10 block walk to Revolution Avenue. Can't walk it, take a cab!

I sense there's something of a political nature going on here! Many times, walking around Tijuana, you bump into any number of deportees, who have recently been deported to Mexico, and I've talked to a number of these people, (some of them have been in the U.S. so long they can't even speak decent Spanish) and a number have told me it was over too many DUI's, the reason for their deportation.

Vengeance? A prisoner trade in order here?

If he's suffering from PTSD then why is he carrying any guns at all. There has to be more to this story than we're told.
Mexico is super strict about guns.

I feel bad that he is there but honestly the whole story doesn't add up. He had been to Mexico several times before and he absolutely had to have known its overtly strict laws about guns; that policy is clearly posted before you get there and there is also clear signage about the last turn around before one has to enter the country. Even then he could have just pulled over in the break down lane before and dealt with the very minor consequences of a U.S police/highway patrol stop to see what was up and be escorted back without entering Mexico and possibly (unlikely)be ticketed for some innocuous traffic law; his guns and ammo were all legal to possess here. Sorry, but I don't buy the "I'm just a dumb marine story"- he is not, nor is he incapacitated by PTSD. He calls 911 after he is already in Mexico and being questioned?!!

I totally support his immediate release, I'm just saying he is responsible for the consequences of his actions.

Irrelevant. Why would you think the fact that he purchased the guns legally would have any bearing on the case? Mexican law is clear. You can't bring guns into Mexico, period. Legally purchased or not. The guns were illegal in Mexico. I can't even count the number of times I have read stories about American's getting arrested in Mexico for this type of thing. I have no sympathy for fools like this.

Here is the 911 tapes. He called 911 after he was already detained in Mexico. The guy must have a serious reading comprehension problem, or he was just running guns to Mexico.

He is an idiot. Mexico should keep him locked up for a while to make sure he doesn't kill someone in the USA.
