And I've noticed that when one addresses a point, and then includes a personal aside at the end - which is what happened in this case - that the respondent (you, in this case) will often whine that the aside is an attempt at deflection, conveniently ignoring that the aside only came after the point was addressed.
Why on earth would someone bring up his grammar when it has nothing to do with Ebola? If not to insight an argument? This isn't the right thread for that. I think he was looking for a fight, and got what he was seeking from George and now you want to jump in. It's not rocket science but it isn't even near the topic.
No, it's because trying to parse posts through all the overused and unneeded punctuation is a waste of time. People are going to dismiss your posts out of hand because they are hard to read and understand, not because the posts are technical, but because of the spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. You might have something of value to add to a conversation, a cogent thought, but it doesn't come across. I wasn't even talking about spell check, I was talking about the overuse of ellepses and commas, which isn't hard for you to modify.
I have no problem defending my posts.
What is an "ellepses?"
Honestly - can we all drop the preachiness? (By the way, I know that "preachiness" isn't really a word!) It's getting way too ironic.
I can just see this - you find out in your huge 3,000 sq foot (or larger) restaurant/place of business that ebola has just stopped by, now you have to do MAJOR CLEANING. what fun!
I think a lot of this cleaning stuff is over the top and probably unnecessary, but what else is a business supposed to do? Damned if they do and damned if they don't. A lot of it is probably coming out of the marketing/PR budget.
We have a big problem with ebola and someone is worried about grammar and punctuation? sheesh!!!
But we don't have a "big" problem with ebola. We do not have a big problem with ebola. A country of 300 million people has had, what, 9 known cases, only 2 of which originated here. None of which came from unknown origins.
Had the abuse of punctuation been the only concept that I posted, yes, the post would be more open for scrutiny.

Also, you need to put a comma between "personally" and "all" in your first paragraph. And finally, "dying" is in the wrong tense (it should be "or perhaps die in your bed of old age" in the context of the sentence).
God...kill,,,,me,,,,my...indexfinger......missed,, ,,the,,,,, T.
The poster's posts are all but intelligible and unreadable because of the overuse of punctuation, which makes it hard to discern if s/he has something to contribute, and/or adds to the perception that the poster is just posting a knee jerk stream of unconsciousness babble.
People are freaking out because of a disease that they are unlikely to contract, unless they come into direct contact with a person who is symptomatic. It is simply completely out of context. It's like being worried that one will get hit by a meteorite while sleeping in one's bed. Could it happen? Yes, but there are sure things that one should be more concerned about which most folks don't even give a second thought.

Happily, however, I notice that you weren't immune from it yourself
I would hardly say he was running all over the city. He wasn't even working. In 10 days he went on the Subway a few times and to a bowling alley. He went to those places when he did NOT have a fever. According to last night's press conference, he developed a fever yesterday during the latter part of the morning and immediately called the proper people.
If we believe what the health officials are saying ebola is ONLY contagious when you have symptoms and even then you must come into direct contact with someone's bodily fluids. This means he could have gone out to every public place in NYC and not infected anyone else. Some of you just don't believe what you're being told and that's fine. I do believe them. I have no reason not to and I think it's pretty telling that no one but health care workers in direct contact with Duncan got sick.
He did have malaise; it was reported he may have had some symptoms prior to the fever.
I see no reason why he couldn't have delayed using public transportation, eating out, and going bowling. And those are only the places reported. There are probably more.
For this guy being a doctor he sure is a MORON. How in the hell did he make it through medical school if he doesn't have enough COMMON SENSE with everything going on with that F-ing thing to STAY AT HOME AND DO NOT GO INTO PUBLIC???????? W T F
I wonder if this latest quarantine signals a shift in policy? This newly arrived, but symptom-free, health care worker was quarantined since she had dealt with Ebola patients in Africa who had died.
From the NY Times:
Report: Woman Quarantined After Newark Landing
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/20...newark-landing
A woman who arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport after having contact with Ebola patients in West Africa has been quarantined by New Jersey officials, according to The Record newspaper in northern New Jersey.
The woman, an American health care worker who was in Sierra Leone, did not show symptoms, but was quarantined because she said she had had contact with people who died of the disease, The Record reported. She said she wore protective equipment during the interactions.

Because their guidelines do not say "stay home".
They say to monitor and first sign of a fever then go to a hospital.
Someone posted their guidelines earlier in this thread.
