That was ridiculous, but a man who wants to saw his own penis off because he thinks hes a woman is perfectly rational huh?...yep, definitely nothing wrong with that picture...lol

See, I'm making an effort to post factually, scientifically correct information. You seem to be making an effort to ignore it.
If you're not interested in facts, I'm not interested in discussing them with you. Have a good night.
I think a large part of the crime against transgender people is when they don't tell someone, that someone finds out in an awkward way, and doesn't handle it real well.
The OP came here with an agenda, not to discuss. You can't be open minded when you are not willing to change your views.

Are you claiming that somehow forgives violence?
I'm open to discussion and education. I'm not open to unsubstantiated claims that I or other trans people are sick, twisted people who want to mutilate ourselves.
My "agenda" is to make people aware of the day and the issues trans people face, some of which are playing out well enough right here.
It's a women's locker room. Women are allowed to have their own space in which to feel safe while they are naked. No men allowed. That means people with penises.

Then you are strange. Granted, I'm old enough to remember when genitalia wasn't called "junk," but every time I've been in a locker room at a gym, there were plenty of penises on display. If you don't see it, you're trying awfully hard not to look.

If you have a penis, the men's room. If you have a vagina, the women's room.

I don't agree at all that it's appropriate.

Do your own research. I read it in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, IIRC. Or maybe the NYT. But I remember an interview with a doctor at UPMC who wants to do this.

21 is when you're an adult. Or perhaps 18. I don't know the exact age. But I would hate for one child to have been forced into this by their parents.

Trans women are women. Where is their space to feel safe? How about trans women who've had bottom surgery? They don't have penises. How about Buck Angel (Google him with extreme caution/not at work/around any children/nuns/your mother, he's a porn star)?

Well, maybe it's because I was in the ladies' locker room at the time. I don't think I would have noticed if anyone in there had a penis, because even if someone was naked, that's not where I was looking.

And what do you think is going to happen to a person who walks, talks, and looks like a woman when she strolls into a men's locker room? Or, what would happen if I walked into a woman's locker room? I mean yeah, I'm short, but I have a beard and everything, so...

That's an opinion you're allowed to hold. When you get some sway with the AMA or the APA or the AAP or an organization like that it might mean more, as they all disagree with you about the appropriate treatment of transgender people.

I've done plenty of it. But I'll pick up the slack for you, too. I can't find anything about a doctor at UPMC claiming they're going to give kids hormones or surgery to change them from effeminate boys into girls at the whim of their parents. Are you talking about this? Hospitals helping children cope with gender ID issues - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Because that's all about perfectly appropriate, properly medically supervised treatments for kids who are trans, and it talks a lot about current research, the need for more funding, and some of the issues transgender people face when trying to get medical care.

21 is when you're an adult. Pe.Ri.Od.
I'm pretty sure, in the U.S., you're considered an adult at 18. Regardless, we don't keep kids from getting medical treatment just because they're not yet adults. What a barbaric policy that would be.
My gosh could some of you be filled with any more hate? Why do you care what someone else does? I'm not transgender - I don't even personally know someone who is. But live and let live! I think they should be a protected class because they should not be turned away from a job or a home because of their personal lives that are none of your business. It is not as if they chose to be the way they are - they just are. You're mad because they want the insurance that they pay for to cover their surgeries for an actual recognized medical condition?
In my opinion, some people treat the LGBT community the same way the Black community was treated during the civil rights movement. Times are changing and our younger generation is seeing the ere of the hateful ways of the past. Just because someone is different from you doesn't make them less of a person.
Why are you wanting to deny young people appropriate medical care?
I can understand people who are gay, bisexual, whatever...I can even understand that there are people who wish to change genders (for whatever reason). But the term "medical care" is for people who have an illness. It does not properly apply to those physically healthy individuals who want plastic surgery (or whatever you call it). Elective surgery (and this surgery is elective) will not physically harm the individual if it is not done. If it mentally harms them, then I would say they have some sort of mental issue...but I'm not saying they are "sick".
Why would what they choose to do to their own bodies bother you in any shape, way, or form? Seems like the problem is you, not them.
But that is just it--they are NOT "being who they are", they are trying to "change" (in reality, mutilate) who they are.
