Really ? Think about how the rest of this cops life is going to be. I'm sure he'd rather be the one on the receiving end of the bullet. The guilt he is carrying will last the rest of his life. And why ? He got up that morning , went to work and had to raid a house that was harboring convicted felons. Ignorant thugs that put their family at risk by being there. No words, now amount of sentencing is going to bring the little girl back to life. The only thing that can be done is to take some lessons from this, and from the looks of some of these replies not many are getting it.

I'd like to see what the mom is going to do with the rest of her life. Is she going to learn from this and get herself away from those types of people or stick in the life.

Sorry, but the cop woke up and reported for duty. He knows the consequences of his chosen profession. SWAT members are supposed to be the more highly trained of the bunch and he couldn't follow the most basic rules of gun handling? Cops get a get out of jail free card for their negligence. I am not anti cop, I am pro accountability.

Just like that mother should have know the consequences of hanging with murderers. And none of us know the details of what happened once in that house, only what ended up happening. Two, count them two juries could not convict him, that should tell you something right there.
Now I admit, the "no knock" raid thing should just be made unconstitutional, at least in cases like this. It endangers the occupants and the officers.

I think it says more about the "system" than anything else.

Also, 2 mistrials are not the same as two not guilties. It means jurors were deadlocked.

The judge dropped it. . .you don't think they protect their own?

Quote:
Wayne County Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway dismissed the charge of careless discharge causing injury or death in court Friday morning, the Detroit Free Press reports. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office requested the case be dropped rather than pursue a third trial for Weekley after two mistrials.

What it tells you is that 12 people could not come to a consensus on his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Nothing more, nothing less. You seem to be implying that it shows he is innocent.

Judge is a different branch of government, bro. Separation of powers. See the US Constitution.

The title of this thread is incorrect. The police officer did NOT murder anyone. He accidentally killed the girl.

This I will agree with. Murder is premeditated and I'm sure the officer did not intend to kill an innocent bystander.

A huge part of the blame lies with the authorities that came up with the wise idea of militarily raids on civilians.

LE is part of the judiciary branch, as it the judge and DA. Its all the same branch, and this is a local judiciary. Not Federal. They have a state Constitution and city charter to abide by as well.
