As these beliefs do make a tremendous number of people happy and satisfied with themselves I have no objection to them believing whatever they will. Just let me believe whatever I want.

What I do object to is their using coercion on anyone that wants to leave their organization and any attempt to use the force of secular Law to force to compel belief or faith correct behavior. In addition to take care of the poor and be kind to each other, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.." is very good advice. Pay a 15% protection fee to the church is not.
It requires a higher level of insanity to be a Mormon or Scientologist, when that it is overwhelmingly apparent that these religions are completely fake nonsense. As I stated before, I can understand why somebody would follow religions such as Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism, or even Shintoism, but it is rather difficult to understand how it is possible for people to ignore the overwhelming amount of information that clearly demonstrates Mormonism and Scientology are clearly fraudulent religion that offer little value to anybody. Mormonism and Scientology are really in the same vein as the Church of the Jedi.

Thanks to Jack Chick.

They believe God used to be a man on another planet.

That man became God after pleasing the God of that planet by following all the rules. So this new God and his wife, now a Goddess, came to this world where they had offspring in heaven. Who were those spirit offspring? Jesus, Satan and all the people of this world. We were born in preexistence. So then all these preexisting spirits inhabit all the newborn babies of the world. THEN if these babies grow up and tithe 10% or more to the Mormon church they too can become Gods of their own planets and start the whole thing over again.

After all of that^^^then Mormonism incorporates the Christian take on Jesus Christ.

Did I miss anything?
You missed tons, and you got most of what you did say wrong, too. But since this isn't the Religion forum, I'll just let you continue to think you did a good job.

Meh. At one point or another they all involve tales of invisible sky beings performing magical feats.

Gotta be pretty stupid, if you ask me.

Enforcing a cult mentality(all your family members and friends are "suppressive", you won't make progress until you get them to join or pull away from there) leaving people isolated, plus pseudo psychology and NLP can get you a long way. Through the auditing process, people get a lot of stuff out that they've been holding in and when dumping all that extra baggage provides real benefits in their overall lives, they decide to continue to stick with it even as they are continually ever more isolated and manipulated.

Right. Traditional Christianity is based on the conviction that a virgin gave birth to the Son of God. Her Son would later walk on water, stop storms by saying "Be still," feed thousands with a few fish and a couple of loaves of bread, turn water into wine, raise a man from the dead and then come back to life again himself after He had been dead for three days. Yup, traditional Christianity is totally rational. Oh are those things only rational to Christians?

I agree with you and don't get me wrong I severely dislike all religions, I'm only trying to make the comment that I can better understand why somebody would be into a religion like Buddhism, while it make little sense why somebody would be a Mormon. I suppose that even though I'm not really interested in the religious side of these ancient religions, but I am interested in their histories, while Scientology and Mormonism were founded by low level moronic snake oil salesmen, so there is very little interesting about them, other than why people would be inclined to get into that boring nonsense.

I did not claim that Christians or any other religious follower held rational beliefs only that their insanity was not as severe as Mormons or Scientologists. Further, most Chritians I've met throughout the years are not foolish enough to take their religious stories as literal descriptions of what occurred, rather they understand that these stories are supposed to give you insight, while you'd be hard pressed to find a Mormon that understands that it is a proved fact that Joey Smith was a total liar.

Mormonism and Scientology were clearly founded by convicted fraudsters that were only interested in stealing money from gullible suckers and then sleeping with their wives, while we don't really know much about the founders of ancient religions, which sort of shrouds their origins in a certain amount of intrigue.

I beg to differ. Scary, in denial and in need of treatment.
