I have thought of something else. What would stop hood rats from behaving the way they do around one another or anyone else?

Calling them out, even publicly won't work. One reason decent, hardworking Blacks won't live around them if they can help it.

Isolating them/distancing from hood rats hasn't really worked. The average hood rat doesn't care what anyone thinks.

Prison hardly works. Look at the recidivism rate.

Death penalty doesn't really deter murder. Look at New Orleans and St. Louis. Both are in states that will execute people. Hood rat types will still commit murder. In fact, there was one man who was on Judge Joe Brown. The judge was saying to said hood rat "I'm trying to keep you from dying". This is a Black man who has made it trying to impart some advance to another Black man who was behaving like a hood rat. Response from hood rat: "I don't care about dying".

Obviously, coming from a stable 2-parent home would help. However, what's done is done. What is going to stop it as it exists now?

That is the million dollar question.

The best that decent Black people can do is just walk away from those hood rats. And many are walking away from hood rats. If nothing else, it will at least keep them from getting dragged down by such elements.

We all need stand up to them.

It is starting with Bill Cosby, and Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter. They've called hood rats out. Hood rats do not listen. I'm thinking that prison, being disowned, well, those are starts. How much further do we go? Best we can do for now is keep a distance from them, and not be part of it. I know myself, I don't buy rap music that has lyrics glorifying the thug life. I figured one way to fight is to hurt the pocket books of those who make money by putting this in American pop culture.

One thing is this. How would we go about standing up to said persons? There are marches against violence taking place. That hasn't stopped the violence.

Pop culture icons (black icons in particular) have more influence than anyone. American culture is shaped by pop culture. They need to model the behavior that we need to get this country on the right track.

We have pop culture icons, Black ones included, that are setting examples of decent behavior. Starting with Denzel Washington. There are more. Here is a better question. Why is exhibiting bad behavior so much more popular than setting a good example? Why is Li'L Wayne more popular among American youths of every race than the pop culture icons that don't fit the thug persona? Why does being a thug sell?

I ask these questions because it isn't a matter of lacking role models. It's a matter of who gets more attention. Histrionics gets more attention than anything.

Consider this. Before all of the allegations starting going around, Bill Cosby called out hood rat behavior. He was essentially accosted by the underclass segment of the Black population, the ones who needed to listen to him the most. Hood rats rarely
listen to anyone.

It is sad. That teenager is emulating violent thug culture because it gets attention. Being a decent Black person doesn't get you popularity (unless you're Denzel Washington). He claimed he did it because that was how Chief Keef got famous. He got famous by posting violent pictures of himself.

There is positive hip hop music out there. There are positive role models out there. Why do thugs and histrionic behavior get so much popularity? That is the question that needs to be answered.

And this is pretty much it, regardless of race.
