Hey, you know what bothers me a lot more than this pathetic woman's life of lies? The fact that people still apparently apply Jim Crow "one drop" rules and racial designations, as if the color of one's skin had any bearing on their character. What is telling about this woman's character isn't that she isn't "black" - it's that she felt compelled to weave a web of lies about her life for years and years.

What is "black" or "African American" anyway? Is it a skin color? An attitude? One African ancestor who knows how long ago? Two parents who identify as African American? One parent? One grandparent? An afro? An address? WHAT?

Sheeze, I yearn for the day when skin color and cultural identity are just interesting facets of people, rather than factors that seem to determine their value to themselves or others.

And while her interest and political/social concerns may be legitimate, she has invalidated all of her work by lying about her race/ethnicity.
