When I was young kids were out nearly all day without parental supervision. Our parents often didnt know exactly where we were. I dont recall anyone ever needing to call 911 even if it had existed. Makes one wonder how we survived.

I guess the world has become a dangerous place for children despite our efforts.
Same here. Today, they'd be in a maximum security prison for letting us go from morning till dusk unsupervised.

If police are so concerned about these parents, why don't they cruse through parts of town where youth are known to hang out at all hours of the day and night on the street corners, then pick up the kids and take them home so that they can arrest their parent/s

I don't get this...

There have been many occasions where I've come home to a neighbor's kid locked out of the house because they forgot their keys. I call their parents and let them know that I've got them and they're fine until they can get home. Then I let them come inside, get them something to eat and drink if they want it and then either help them with homework if they need it, or go outside and shoot hoops or something with them to help pass the time. Never once would I consider calling the cops.

They dont care but when they get a complaint I guess they feel they have to act on it..

Regardless of what happened, the thread title is intentionally misleading.
