I'm sure this happens a lot, and probably will continue since so many people have flocked to the health care industry only because it is a lucrative, secure field of employment. Someone with true compassion for the care and healing of patients wouldn't act this way. I knew a nurse who worked in the OR for a short period. She related similar situations of drs. ridiculing a patient while under anesthesia, and it bothered her to the point where she went back to her old job.

Fortunately for the patient, the insulting and disrespectful comments were recorded unbeknownst to the health care workers, and I for one am glad the jury awarded him damages.

I think he did pretty good, 500,000 sounds adequate I think.
Maybe now, more people will sneak their cells into the room.
The anesthesiologist should be ashamed of herself.
She talks of him being a coward.......what could be more cowardly that trashing a man when he's down and out....she's quite pathetic to say the least.
It also makes you wonder if a diagnosis is in fact real or fiction....and that's scary

Will never understand the connection between suing someone for that much money and justice.

$500k for some insults he probably didn't hear when they were being said? That's ridiculous. Someone has to pay that $500k, you know. I'll admit, that was mean spirited of her, and she should be disciplined.

If something negative to his health had arisen because of those comments, then the award would be more understandable.

Exactly. Where is this money coming from? It doesn't just appear out of nowhere and no one seems to care that the loss of that much funding for something like this is a bit ridiculous. With all due respect to this man, the situation is really lame.

I am against frivolous lawsuits but something about his one struck me and I'm glad the guy won the case.

I think over the years there has been a decline in the moral fiber of our society but one should still expect a certain amount of respect from their Doctors and other professionals especially in the health care industry.
Any time someone is asked to disrobe in a doctors office there should be a high level of professionalism to help protect ones dignity.

TN is a "one-party consent" state.

Although I wonder if that party needs to be awake the entire time?
