Black kids doing typical black kid things. Nothing to see here, move along people.
They wonder why black youths aren't hired. People wonder why black youths are often viewed with suspicion. A speaker no less eminent than Michelle Obama recently said, at her commencement speech as Tuskegee University (link to White House, thus public site):
Instead they will make assumptions about who they think you are based on their limited notion of the world. And my husband and I know how frustrating that experience can be. We’ve both felt the sting of those daily slights throughout our entire lives -- the folks who crossed the street in fear of their safety; the clerks who kept a close eye on us in all those department stores; the people at formal events who assumed we were the “help” -- and those who have questioned our intelligence, our honesty, even our love of this country.
Is it any wonder that these people are viewed with suspicion. If the police came to bring order, isn't it at least possible that someone might be killed in that kind of a melee? Oh, but people would say that the teens were "unarmed." But wouldn't the average person consider a flash mob of 30-40 muscular teens to be a danger? If people want to know why people of good will might inflict what Michelle Obama calls "daily slights" look no further than that video.

As for the part about how young people, and especially young black people, are watched closely in stores, yes, we do watch them. I work retail and when a few young people come into the store together we alert each other on our radios that we wear and we all converge into spots where we can watch what they are doing. I feel horrible to do it, but we have found that a lot of times they are there to shoplift, and pretty soon they realize we are watching them closely and they leave.
It is profiling, but we have gotten pretty good at reading the signs of who is there for no good.
That was one of the teens who jumped on the scooter, rode it a few feet and jumped off.
Oh, yeah, you are right!
