It is deflection. "Peaceful" Muslims have a lot of forms of deflections and misdirection in their arsenal.

In the OP it was stated that, "this mosque could have used some surveillance". While in Germany threats tend to come from Islamic extremist; America's radical threats come primarily from far right wing extremist [white supremacists]. In a contemporary setting, the American threat is very different from that of Germany or even Paris.
The troubling part is we now have Americans suggesting that religious institutions should be monitored. The institutions themselves. This is wrong on many levels and without a warrant it is also illegal. I can get on board with monitoring individuals that might be a threat with the approval of a judge, but monitoring an institution because you don’t like what is being said is un-American.
Now back to your question about “why white supremacy even being brought into the discussion?” You right wingers are okay with violating the civil rights of others but when your religious institutions, yes the institutions right wingers hold dear that perpetuates white supremacy are monitored, you’ll be up in arms. Certain people are suggesting that it’s okay to monitor Islamic institutions but those same people would scream about government overreach if the authority they’re so quick to give to the government is used against them.

Really? So, making it easier for a person holding a CCW permit to vote than a college student is an improvement? And closing polling places, and limiting the hours polling places are open to exclude as many people as possible is making it easier to vote? Requiring a 90 year old who was delivered at home by a mid-wife to come up with a birth certificate makes it easier to vote? wow...just wow
