If he was still in the Marines and he was pulling this stunt with an official government office his superiors would have marched his ass dry with a boot.
Earned the right pfft, he's just another tool with an ego problem.
He sounds like a typical brain washed marine that can't integrate back into civilian life.

Apparently you've never served. Pity. I did ... though not as a Marine. I have learned that there is an esprit d corps that the Marine Corps has, that the other services don't. They also have the attitude that 'Once a Marine, always a Marine'. I admire them for that. I think your comment about him "still in the Marines ..." is silly and has NOTHING to do with the subject at hand. And your smarmy highlighted comment proves that you didn't look at OP's link. Pity. I wonder just who it is that has the ego problem.
IMO, the difference is that the Marine Vet is probably rarely seen outdoors without his USMC cap.
Do the "pastafarians" normally wear their religious headgear at all times when outdoors? If so, they should be allowed to wear it for ID pictures. If not, they should be as they normally appear for their ID pictures.
simple, isn't it...
What if the picture is taken indoors? A Marine should not be wearing a cap indoors.
Meh. He's just parodying all those other folks who've already stood up to the DMV. Got his 15 minutes of fame - whoopie.
Yup, he got his 15 minutes to be lauded as a 'hero' who stood up those bureaucrats.
Apparently he was miffed that people with turbans were allowed to take pictures. Last time I checked a baseball cap was not a religious headgear.
Oh well, at least there was a resolution.
