So, having a 35 inch waist is ok now? Since when?

Did Cheryl not model in the 60s when the negative effects of cigarettes were unknown?

To compare the two is ridiculous.

I looked at the picture of her in SI and frankly thought I was going to see some huge/obese woman. I didn't see that. Frankly I don't think she looks fat or bad at all for that matter. Just a bit curvy. Now if she was truly obese, big time overweight, etc. like many in society are, then I can see valid complaints perhaps.

And science says men prefer curvy woman:

Men Prefer Curves, Not Skinny - Living Fit

Perhaps everything is relative and compared to the classic definition of a rail thin model, she's a plus size?

I do think that the media and people in general do need to stop glamourizing being unhealthy and overweight. Just because a big majority of the world is pushing obese or have already reached that point does not make it ok to promote this kind of behavior.....whatever happened to being healthy and fit?

Yeah, if we start calling a few full-figured, mixed race people "beautiful," some skinny blondes might have competition for the jobs they see as their sole providence.

And we should worry about poor Cheryl's welfare. Her net worth is only estimated at $14 million and that's before she put her "Balinese-style Bel Air mansion" on the market recently for $10 million more than she paid for it.

Americans are fat. Too fat. Normalising fat is not good.

Come on, people.

But it's OK to glamorize bulimia, cocaine use, smoking cigarettes, and eating cotton balls (to fill the stomach without ingesting calories)? Those are some of the things models do today to maintain the stick-think physique demanded by their industry.

Who says that?

Stating that fat is unhealthy is not saying that anorexia or bulimia or smoking or drug abuse are healthy.

i think this is part of the problem as i see it. people calling someone who is overweight, "curvy". because curvy sounds good. because they are actually shaped with, well, curves. she is still overweight even if her "fat" (i hate to say fat, it makes it sound mean) is shaped and placed in a visually pleasant way.

i wouldn't call her obese. but i don't know what the criteria is for what is considered medically obese.
