Because elevators often have other people in them and I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to look where I'm going so that I don't run head on into someone as they are stepping out or just so that I don't bump into or mash toes of anyone already in the elevator. The people saying they just step in on instinct or rush in or what have you, I take it the elevators they use are mostly empty of other passengers so they have no need to look or worry about being courteous to people already on the elevator? More so if someone is pushing a stroller or wheelchair into one?
Maintenance was likely at fault, but it's also obvious she wasn't paying much attention either. An avoidable accident, no less tragic for that.

Most accidents are though.

My point is the headline makes it sound as though the stroller rolled into an elevator shaft on its own, which is sloppy journalism. It's like "car drives off bridge, kills 4". Someone was DRIVING the car... Human beings are involved.

I have absolutely no idea what your point is, since you won't "degrade" yourself (huh?) with an answer to a legitimate question posited by someone who is asking for clarification.

I guess everything needs to be spelled out in detail these days.

Not my point. Not even close.

Maybe not, but it seems like you need everything spelled out in detail if you're saying headlines should specify that a human was driving a car, or that the babies mother was the one pushing the stroller. Not every detail will be in the headline. You have to read the story, and also use some common sense.

No, I'm saying that the headlines are deliberately obfuscated to make people click on the stories, and that I find it annoying because it's barely one step removed from "how he fell will amaze you!". I miss decent journalism.

Of course they want people to click the headline, that's how they make money. But yeah, how annoying is it that a business would want to make money.

But I still don't find this particular story's headline confusing. A baby died after the stroller fell down an elevator shaft.
