He's always had a reputation of spending money like it's water and grows on trees. He's spent a fortune on silly things....things that have no value. He drinks like a fish.....all that wine isn't cheap. Neither are all the women.

Depp recently sold 4 of his 5 penthouses in Downtown Los Angeles.

These 5 properties facing foreclosure are also in L.A....so makes me wonder how many properties he owns in L.A alone. Plus I believe he owns property in France or at least he did.
Of course L.A properties have appreciated nicely depending on when he bought of course... but houses don't bring in income if they are sitting vacant meanwhile there are various bills to pay. utilities , insurance, gardener, security, etc

Johnny Depp turned up ‘drunk’ and ‘stinking of booze’ to the London premiere of his new film Murder On The Orient Express

Goes to show just how easily he is swindled out of his money. Often when people know you have money the price 'just went up.' I detest people who do this.

The threat of foreclosure is just the latest exchange in what has become a bitter back-and-forth between the actor and his former managers, who he claims mismanaged the $650 million he’s made in the last two decades to the point of depletion.
Depp sued TMG in February for $25 million in a fraud lawsuit, in which he claimed that the firm was trying to foreclose on his primary residence. “As a result of years of gross mismanagement and sometimes outright fraud, Mr. Depp lost tens of millions of dollars and has been forced to dispose of significant assets to pay for TMG’s self-dealing and gross misconduct,†read the complaint.
“In essence, TMG treated Mr. Depp’s income as their own, available to either TMG or third parties to draw upon as desired,†the filing continued.

TMG later filed a cross-complaint against Depp, claiming the actor lived an “ultra-extravagant lifestyle that often knowingly cost [him] in excess of $2 million per month to maintain, which he simply could not afford.â€
Let's look at the numbers, shall we?

Depp has made $650 million.
It's claimed Depp spends $2 million a month.
So.....it should take him 325 months to burn through the money, which is about 27 years. This is also assuming that he has made no money through investments.
I guess it is possible that he is about broke.
Better get working Johnny.

650 is gross.......knock it in half for taxes.......
Deduct the major purchases (real estate, yachts, islands, art, collectibles)
Now start burning the money at 2mm a month.

He could smoke the net amount in 10 years......

Yeah, I'm fairly confident that in Depp's case the problem is just that he's been spending his money as fast (or faster) than he's been earning it. Just because someone is a good actor or athlete doesn't mean they have any financial sense.

When you are maintaining a horse farm and 14 individual residences, many extravagant, it's easy to burn through 2 million a month.

For some reason Ive been getting FB posts from Floyd Mayweather, I never signed up for them and Im not a fan of boxing, so not sure what happened, but all his posts are him flaunting how much money he spends, according to the pictures I see, He is spending about 2 million + per week, and he only gets one big payday here and there when he fights, so Id imagine hes close to being broke too.

^^^Mo' money, mo' idiocy. I can feel sympathy for a wealthy person who's been swindled, but it's hard to feel too much sympathy for those who just never managed to learn any self-restraint. You'd think at some point they'd learn that whatever hole they're trying to plug in their life can't be filled merely by spending.
