I like the self scan. I don't have to chit chat with someone when I am not in the mood, I can see the prices so if its double scanned I get it corrected, if the price is wrong I let the cashier know. I let my grandkids scan the items they think its fun, and they bag the items. I don't have to stand in line.
Wrong (again). A broccoli crown is just the floret on top of the stalk. No store sells individual stalks as crowns.
That's what it used to be. Then the stems started getting longer and longer. At some stores a crown is truly a crown; at others, a "crown" is what used to be sold as the cheaper broccoli.
I am guessing that the people saying "It's not my job to scan my groceries" don't tolerate the self-bagging required at Aldi. But wow those low prices!
I do shop at ALDI'S and I know that is their policy and I am more than happy to bag my groceries there. In my view scanning my groceries at Walmart and bagging them is another matter entirely, but that's just my 2 cents for what it's worth. I wish ALDI'S had everything I wanted but I suppose if they did they would resort to self scanning and bagging as well.

I also bring my own bags to Walmart as well because they're stronger and a couple of them are specifically for refrigerated and frozen items.
There was this one time when I used a self check out and didn't get a chance to insert the $2 coupon because I took too long to do that. I kept it and reused it another time. Sorry, Kroger.
I guess this isnt too surprising, that so many people are 'gaming' the grocery store self checkout systems! Its interesting to think about though, as one person in the comments attempted to justify the theft since the stores are basically charging you to do work they should be doing, ( I will admit, I never thought about it like that).
Im curious to see what you guys think, is it theft or payment for work performed at the store?
Since most clerks don't know or care how to bag items and a few are probably guessing what kind of produce you are buying, anyway then it's payment / compensation for work performed in a large chain store. But for a small mom and pop grocery store, they're known to care - so for them, it's theft.

It's theft either way. It doesn't matter if you don't like a stores customer service, it's still theft. Instead of trying to justify your criminal behavior, why not shop somewhere else?
