While no one wants to be hospitalized, the virus is remarkably predictable.

A rise, yes. A surge, no. Worth watching, for sure.

I agree. We are seeing a rise in hospitalizations here but definitely not a surge.

Thee family thought she was being admitted, but the hospital wouldn't admit her because she "didn't need to be on a ventilator." The hospital left her at the curbside and called the family to just "pick her up and take her home" with no PPE provided for the family and no further instructions. Home and sick with her sick husband. Hospitals are triaging and limiting admissions. In different times both should have been hospitalized.
In other words, the hospital did the right thing for those two. Unless there is a compelling medical need to be in a hospital, they should not be in a hospital.

In different times, it would have been the same: no medical need to be hospitalized, right?

It helps when digesting the article to know about the bias of the authors/editors.
Yes, I use that all the time with media I am not familiar with.

Wealthiest countries per GDP:

https://howmuch.net/articles/richest...s-in-the-world
There are a variety of ways to measure the nation's wealth.

GNP is not the best measure of national wealth. GDP is better. GDP per Capita is much better. Even better still is GDP per capita PPP, where PPP stands for Purchasing Power Parity. Purchasing power parity (PPP) is a way of measuring economic variables in different countries so that irrelevant exchange rate variations do not distort comparisons.

Let's look at this several ways:

Median wealth per adult, in US dollars.

Iceland $203,847
Australia $191,453
Switzerland $183,339
Luxembourg $164,284
Belgium $163,429
Netherlands $114,935
France $106,827
Canada $106,342
Japan $103,861
New Zealand $98,613
UK $97,169
Singapore $91,656
Spain $87,188
Norway $80,054
Italy $79,239
Taiwan $78,177
Malta $76,116
Ireland $72,473
Australia $70,074
South Korea $65,463
United States $61,667
Denmark $60,999

Mean wealth per adult, in US dollars.

Iceland $555,726
Switzerland $530,244
Luxembourg $412,127
Australia $411,060
United States $403,974
Belgium $313,045

List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita (IMF data)

Qatar $130,475
Macau $116,808
Luxembourg $106,705
Singapore $100,345
Brunei $79,530
Ireland $78,785
Norway $74,356
UAE $69,382
Kuwait $67,000
Switzerland $64,649
Hong Kong $64,216
United States $62,606
San Marino $60,313

List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita (World Bank data)

Qatar $128,378

I'm sure my son probably hates me now because I didn't go but oh well, hubby and I have too many medical tests coming up for us to take chances like that.

So, Everylady, there definitely is crazy out there.
Here is a news story about someone that insisted covid was a hoax. This is not exactly an unhealthy or older individual either. Few are this fit and healthy.

I usually don't bother with videos but this is so adorable and fun! For the ANTI mask wearers--let Snow White & the Seven Drawfs tell them, lol.

Seek out the covid long-haulers support group on Facebook & join. You will be accepted even if there hasn't been enough time passed for you to be a long-hauler. 28% of us had negative tests or were sick before testing was available but developed the very specific long-haul symptoms.

For those here who don't know; the pain that put me in the hospital back in May was a post-covid condition. We have been medically confirmed as having covid in January, connected to international travel (daughter in Italy). None of us tested positive. In fact, there are covid survivors in the group who were hoping to be plasma donors but their antibody tests were negative, less than a few weeks after a positive covid test. The testing is crap.

There, you can see see if your symptoms very specifically match covid. There is much more detailed information there, than you will find in the media. There are also doctors & research scientists there who are interested in the phenomena of false negatives; the group is literally a platform for research & your voice matters, even if you determine that your experience is not correlated with actual covid.
