Kristen Nordlund, a spokesperson with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in an email Saturday evening that all 100 of the cynomolgus macaque monkeys had since been accounted for. Three were dead after being euthanized.
The email did not elaborate on why the three were euthanized or how all came to be accounted for. But Nordlund said those euthanized were done so humanely according to American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/n...-told/2803103/
We don't know why they were euthanized - maybe to hard to catch, maybe already infected with COVID.
At least two of the monkeys had climbed trees (as per photos). More than likely they were shot with darts that knocked them out and caused them to fall out of the trees. After that, lethal injection on the spot, maybe?
Why only those three? And why did they have to be euthanized? Maybe the frigid cold hurt them in some way?
Surely all involved have to know the public is interested in the details.

Take it to the politics forum, don't want to read this junk here in current events.
And on a humourous note.
I first was listening to this on the morning news... And recalled the singing group called 'The monkeys'. And one of them was raised in PA.
Since I was half attentive , I thought they were looking for Micky or davy Jones!
Hey hey for the monkeys, we keep on monkey' n around.
Was sorry to read the euthanization. Two of those monkeys were shown being retrieved from a tree.. less then three
Pounds.
Because they aren't pets -- and they will likely come to a more humane end than their contemporaries in the wild.
OK. Let me put this another way.
Why were those three killed, while the other 97 weren't? Was it punishment for escaping?
